We have the testimony of trees, coral, sediment, ice cores, and natural history, archaeology, anthropology, paleontology and dozens more. Their testimony all says there was no global flood 4000 years ago. These are facts.

Their testimony has not been proven false.
There are only theories, speculations, conjectures, etc.

Now, all we have to do is google evidence for a global or worldwide flood, and, voila! there it is.
We all know that.

lol... Don't use facts to reason with the emotional belief of people. It's pointless except that it shows others how deluded these people are. Having said that, I guess it isn't pointless after all. :)

So are the Bible stories when written in any translation from the origional.
I found the Chronicle Project a facinating, dynamic site devoted to translating from the original hebrew. Focusing on the origional language and how that language works. The different ways many words can be translated and how they have already found different words that are translated as the same word. The "root" of the word, and the suffix or prefix is highly important. yetin translations it seems many time this is not taken into account.
You can request to be on a mailing list and get the newsletters. It really is facinating.

Deluded people do get worked up, don't they?

Their testimony has not been proven false.
I forget who said it or the exact quote, but this is a perfect example. For someone like Sylvia, that doesn't value evidence, what possible evidence could you provide to convince her? For someone that doesn't value reason and logic, what possible logic or argument could you offer to change her mind? She has already decided on the the answer and anything coming her way will either match her confirmation bias or be tossed as false.
This is not at all about wanting to learn, it's simply about confirming her worldview.

What to written records have to do with anything?
.
Exactly ! I cannot believe a grown adult presented that as a "valid" refutation.
I've never seen a letter, editorial or even a scribbled note from the Sun or any other star. By that same logic, since no written record exists, we cannot prove the Sun exists. Physical evidence and science are irrelevant.
