The Genesis account of how things came to be.

Snowbird, it is a contradiction to accept a literal world-wide flood and the bible genealogies at the same time. You have reconciled the idea of a world-wide flood if the world was a single continent who knows how many years ago. But we also have genealogies from Adam to the time of Jesus that suggests that the world can only be so many years old. And Noah is inserted in to that genealogy.

So what is it? A literal world-wide flood some time in the indeterminate past? A failed/fudged genealogy? The flood wasn't as world-wide as represented in the bible?

Well, that would be a fine quote as long as you don't assume that the bible is God.

I believe there was a global flood on a single continent during Noah's day, and that the earth - people and land - was divided during Peleg's day.

I don't believe it took millions of years for the continents to drift apart.

Of course, I don't assume the Bible is God.

I was simply echoing the sentiments of the Apostle Paul.

There were no anti-theist people before theist people. Why? Because our ancestors 20k, 30k, 40k years ago invented gods to explain the explainable around them. So people went from regular normal people to theist people, and then anti-theist people. So you do not get dibs on being first. There was no god when our ancestors were walking the earth. They made them up.

The same "gods" that captivated our early ancestors still captivate you Snowbird. You reach out to books that were written recently and that no normal religion I know of considers inspired, and you use them to explain things in your bible that clearly do not make sense. You enjoy posting your nonsense to people that do not think you are right, or intelligent.

You may be a nice caring person I would enjoy having coffee with or smoking a pipe with or sitting on the porch and talking about politics with, but why do you post this nonsense when you know its silly to everyone but you? If you are just bored, why not start a thread about a topic that isn't devoid of science and facts?

I'm posting because I believe some of the stuff in those texts.

I'm posting beause I've received pm's from quite a few expressing appreciation for learning about those things.

I'm posting because I'm finding answers to questions that have concerned me ever since I learned to read the Bible for myself.

I'm posting because neither the WT nor the churches are telling all there is to be told.

How do you pick and choose what to believe in the texts? You say "some of the stuff".

I feel sorry for the people who "appreciated" the learning you offer.

If your criteria for finding answers to lifes questions is just that some old book says it is so, then possibly you need to try critical thinking.

But, you are preaching your message here right? You are telling the people the whole truth? You are offering salvation for them?

Please don't worry; I'm not preaching any message; I'm not looking for converts, either.

I, too, feel sorry for those who think everyone has an ulterior motive for simply expressing a viewpoint.
