Gustv: Our efforts have provided us with beautiful places of worship here and all over the world...It is pathetic to see church members on street corners asking for money to fund their crap...The way JWs do it is very dignified and thus far is working magnificently for us.

GC - When I was a young JW we never talked about money - EVER. On the other hand we could explain what we believed.

We had a brief accounts report every month, that was it. We were very proud of that.

The first time a CO started suggesting from the platform that we should pay more attention to donating more money it was around 1986. Everybody was shocked.

Now you have credit card machines in assembly halls and you never shut up about money.

It's not the religion I grew up in.

Aww! Cofty, did you not know this is a progressive organization? So sad of you that you can not adapt to the changing times... See Jehovah is the God that created quantum mechanichs. In such science, it can be explained that two objects can be in two places at once. Same way, Jehovah's organization can be both, right and wrong at the same time. When observed, though.. it will always be right.

Could the faith-testing announcement have to do with the selling of many "older" kingdom halls in the US, resulting in the dissolution of some congregations and members being consolidated into others? This announcement was made in the UK and is mentioned on this recent thread.
