Anyone have some thoughts on Temple of the Dog? Is their album worth pursuing
some of my faves have already been mentioned, like Floyd, Rush, Def Leppard...here are a few others off the top of my head, some I just say Greatest Hits in case you dont know of them, compilations are a good way to get acquainted with an artist and from there you can look into the individual albums:
The Police - Regatta de Blanc, Zenyatta Mondatta, Snycronicity, Greatest Hits
U2 - The Best Of 1980-1990, Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby (anyways if you like these Id say buy all of their albums, they are my favorite group, the Police were until U2 came along)
Bob Dylan Greatest Hits Vol I and II
New Order - Substance
Joy Division - Closer
The Cure - Hits (cant remember the exact name)
Depeche Mode - Construction Time Again, Music for the Masses
Barenaked Ladies - Disc 1 1991-2001
REM - god, just about anyone, but esp Automatic For the People, Green, etc
Radiohead - OK Computer, Bends
Bruce Cockburn
David Bowie
Peter Gabriel
Beatles - Sgt Peppers, White Album, Revolver
The Cult
Journey
(and I hate to admit it, Bon Jovi Slippery When Wet)
Supertramp - Breakfast in America
Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
CCR
Bryan Adams
AC DC
Billy Idol
Pretenders
Bruce Springsteen - too many to list
DAMN!!! :)
Then theres:
The Smiths - The QUeen is Dead
Ramones - Greatest Hits
Jimi Hendrix
Van Morrison
Roxy Music - For Your Pleasure, Avalon
man I could go on forever, Im a music freak
Here are some others that I would consider, while not ROCK, must haves:
Bob Marley - every single last album the man ever released! LOL
Peter Tosh - Legalize It, Best Of
Marvin Gaye - Whats Goin On
Miles Davis
Michael Jackson - Thriller
Stevie Wonder - Songs In the Key of Life, Innervisions
Public Enemy - Yo! Bum Rush the Show, Nation of Millions
Eric B and Rakim - Paid in Full
Prince - Purple Rain, Greatest Hits
Mary J Blige - My Life, Whats the 411
Buju Banton - Til Shiloh
Dru Hill - Enter the Dragon
Earth Wind and Fire - September, Greatest Hits
Isley Brothers
Teddy Pendergrass
Guy
Jodeci - (first album, I think Come and Talk to Me or something)
New Edition
Ella Fitzgerald
Billie Holliday
Sade
Tony Toni Tone
Commodores
Boys II Men
Babyface
Luther Vandross

Leander- I have that album, it's really good. "Say hello to Heaven" is the song that got airtime but "Wooden Jesus" and "Hunger Strike" are great songs on that album that rock too. It's pretty Grunge-y, but I love it.
The Tragically Hip - In Violet Light
The Tea Party - The Interzone Mantras
Hayden - Everything I long For
NIN - Pretty Hate Machine
Radiohead - Kid A
How many do you want listed? I could go on forever...
Curtis Mayfield - Curtis
Ray Barreto - Acid
De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising
Skull Snaps - S/T
The Beta Band - The First 3 EPs and Hot Shots 2
Belle and Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
Jurassic 5 - Quality Control
Aretha Franklin - I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You)
David Axelrod - Songs of Experience
I'll stop here, if you need more, just ask...

Wow I did'nt there were so many other music junkies like myself. I'll definitely checking out some of those suggestions.
What about heavy metal? What are some good metal albums without the evil overtones? (or is there good metal without evil ;^)
Temple of the Dog in my opinion is one GREAT CD, back in the day I wore out the tape after which the CD I bought got really scratched up, they were one of my most listened to bands, along with Candlebox during the first few years that I was removed from all of my family and so called friends therapeutic rock relief/release,......................I recommend it.
Get THE ALBUM that really started modern rock:
The Beatles White Album.
Helter Skelter; Happiness is a Warm Gun; Birthday; Everyboby Gots Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey...on and on!
You will quickly see where Rock Bands of today got their "sound." Most songs were written in 1967-68; The Beatles were way ahead of their time!
Also:
Black Sabbath: VOL 4
ACDC: Let There Be Rock (With Bon Scott)
Leander - these are as Heavy as I get
1) Godsmack- the first album.
2) Kill 'em All by Metallica is also good.
Neither are too evil..
