Do you really think " a revelation" is who he alleges that he is? When asked to give a little information about himself, he ignores this.Something doesn't seem to be too kosher here.

Jehovah's Witnesses were the first people on the scene at the World Trade Center and escorted many people to safety. ~~ Mark 16

Oh, brother...I thought I had heard the last of this crap. I suppose they all read this press release and actually believed it:

    A_rev,

why do you feel the need to tell people?

That is indeed a very strange question from a person who propagates a religion who considers it a sacred duty to knock on everybody's doors to preach its brand of gospel.

Mark, from Norfolk. You are 16. You are a loyal supporter of Jehovah's witnesses. What else do you want to tell us about yourself?

hi mark, another welcome to the board. i think you need to take a step back and perhaps read some experiences of the people on this board to understand why we're here and feel the way we do. i would say most of us have had some unfortunate experiences with the JW's. i was raised a dub and went along with everything too--believed it was the truth and the only way. i did it because that's what i was told--never questioned anything. you're 16 now, i hate to tell you, but things change drastically when you get a bit older. i was baptized at 18 and thought i knew what i wanted out of my life. then i got out into the real world. your priorities change. personally, i could never have come to a discussion forum like this and still carried a clean JW conscience. ultimately it was my conscience that persueded me to leave. perhaps someday you will realize what i mean. you might also figure out that you don't have to be a JW to feel close to God. many people on this forum aren't JW's, and i would tend to say that most don't belong to any organized religion, but that doesn't mean there is no relationship with God. that's what the dubs teach--they tell you there is no relationship with God, unless it's through them. just use your head and try to think for yourself. i'm pretty sure that's what lead the vast majority of us here.

I have talked to the elders in my congregation regarding the Molestation case.

It is confirmed that there ARE witnesses who are found guilty of molestation in the organization. Even the Society's letter to the all U.S. congregation in May says that. According to the letter some are even serving as elders and ALL of them are still going door to door. ( Mark, 16, if you don't believe me, go to www.watchtower.org ( the official website of the Watchtower Society ) and click on "media".)

If the State ( in U.S.) law doesn't require they ( the elders) don't report to police - confirmed by the elders!

If the molester brother ( sorry for mainly using a male figure ) moves to a different congregation in a different state where reporting the sexoffender is required by law ( for example California ), guess what? THEY ( THE ELDERS ) DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT REPORT EITHER TO THE AUTHORITY OR EVEN TO THE CONGREGATION MEMBERS!!!!!!!!! ---- This also was confirmed by the elders last week. I wonder how they would feel if their little son says, "Hey, dad, I'm going to play with the Molester Brother is weekend!"

Even if the victims were allowed to contact the police ( which I doubt ), they still have the policy that puts all the Witnesses' children and the children in the territory in the danger of becoming another "victim."

This is just one aspect. Mark, 16, don't ignore the negative signs. Look at both the positive and negative. I know that there are so many positive aspects among the Jehovah's Witnesses. First of all, most of them are really nice - at least the ones that I know. BUT SOONER OR LATER YOU WILL FACE A SITUATION WHERE YOU HAVE TO EXAMINE OR CONTEMPLATE YOUR CONSCIENCE. If you can conform your thoughts and conscience with the Watchtower Society and have no problem, then it's you choice and I hope you'll be happy. But if you become deeply troubled by what you see and experience and cannot agree with the Society, esp. long after you got baptized, it's going to hurt you so much.

I know.......because I am going through it right now. I grew up in a culture where sacrificing your life for a good cause was valued as an honor. So whenever I saw a "victim" who tried to be faithful to God according to the guide lines by the Watchtower Society, it didn't bother me at all.

But I don't know. Maybe I'm getting old. I see the children and had to battle with my conscience with the Watchtower Policy. Have you read about a Canadian Brother who desperately tried to save his dying daughter by permitting blood transfusion? He got disfellowshipped, and with all those court cases, he is in debt with tens of thousands of dollars........and his little girl is dying. And the worst part is the Society is changing their blood policy....slowly. But until they make the public announcement, all "victims" have to die and all the hearts of parents have to be broken. It was like that for organ transplant. It was condamned by the Society in the 60s, but now it is a matter of conscience.

I had to battle with my conscience. Oh, also I found out about the 1975 Prophecy by the Society. Do you know about that? Did you know that so many brothers and sister sacrificed their lives ( either by selling their houses and businesses and refusing medical treatments) because the Society convinced them that in 1975 the Armageddon would come? Check out the Watchtower magazines in 1966 - 1975. And when it didn't come, did you know what the Society said? They said it was because the Bible didn't give them more specific information on the length of the 6th Creation Day. Well, you gotta read those Watchtower magazines to understand fully what I mean. Whenever I asked about that, all Witnesses told me that it was "an isolated case among a few brothers." But it happened in Asia and in U.S. I don't know about in Europe or Africa yet. I haven't talked to anyone from those places yet.

To the Society it wasn't their fault. It was of those "misunderstood" and of those who involved in "publication". Well, I guess it was the fault of little brother Johnny who worked at the shippping department and sister Salley who typed those materials.

Well, what I wanted to say to you, Mark who is 16, is that DO NOT RUSH TO MAKE DECISION BY LOOKING AT JUST "PRO" OR JUST "CON". LOOK AT BOTH and pray to Jehovah. Then make your decision. NEVER EVER IGNORE THE CRITICISM.

Oh, well, I've talked too much already.

Hello, everyone! I'm "shunshine", I mean "sunshineToo". I'm new and this is my first post.

Welcome to the discussion board, A_Revelation!

You said you have nothing to fear, nothing to hide! Excellent! I believe you!

You said that you resarch and study "The Truth". Again, I applaud you!

Here is something for you to study: http://Quotes.JehovahsWitnesses.com

It *ONLY* contains quote from the Watchtower Society. I have collected them over the years. It all started when a friend of mine told me "The Society never called itself "God's Channel". (see http://quotes.jehovahswitnesses.com/channel.htm).

I hope you enjoy reading my website. It is just like going to the library at your local Kingdom hall, except the interesting stuff has already been underlined for you and grouped together in the various categories.

    Enjoy!

    Visit Quotes' site.

Like he said, ONLY quotes from the WTBTS' own literature. NOT TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT - entire blocks of each article are presented to read in context.

If you still have doubts - BY ALL MEANS LOOK THEM UP IN THE LIBRARY OR CD!!! Your hall should have one! (Just don't spend TOO much time there - the elders seem to frown on you looking through older watchtower publications, too. Damned if I know why, after all, it was the 'truth of god' at one point, right?...)

my dad was a superb elder and i dont think you have any rights whatsoever to tell me i am sad or that i havent examined the truth properly

A-REV, There are a lot of posts here I don't have time to read all today so excuse me if this has already been addressed.

You are right about theyre being many good and even excellent elders in various congregations all over the WORLD. That includes America. And any other Country.

The problem with many JWs and xJWs around here is not those Good people.

The problem is with-in a society that is supposed to be directed by "Holy Spirit" but allows incredible acts of violence against women and children to go unpunished, while holding onto one scripture in the Bible that is relevant to a society that lived hundreds of years ago, prior to modern science and DNA.

That should be recognized but is not when it involves the protection of innocence. However the same science can be used to validate the use of certain blood components. There is something very very wrong and double standard about that and needs to be addressed.

Unfortunately it takes situations such as this to get those issues addressed. In short. Thats life.

plum BTW my involvment can be traced back almost a century.
