Welcome to the board, Mark. I hope you got a good rest last night (which is my tonight). Please try to look thru the posts and see that there are many who are upset here. Upset because of the policies of the WTS that have tremendously effected their lives.

I think that you have to be a parent to realize what it would be like if your child was molested and you were not allowed to warn your best friends in the hall! Or warn your other good friends in the hall this molester chose to move to in order to avoid you.

I think that you would be upset if you were a victim and not allowed to take the brother to the courts because the brothers didn't want Jehovah's name smeared. I am sorry, its not Jehovah's name, its the molester and that molester is not truly a brother, so I wouldn't have a problem. But elders try to convince you that its Jehovah's name being dragged thru the muck and try to tell you the molester is "sorry".

Mark, there are many people here who are JW's and others who are ex-JW's. I am df'd. I was attending meetings until March of this year. I regular pioneered for 5 years and auxilliared for 1 year. I was baptized in 91 and df'd in 2002. I was truly sorry for what happened, and no the elders didn't have several meetings to "help me", just one ...... then the axe. The elders say they try to provoke repentance, they try to reason and help the erring one. That did NOT HAPPEN. They asked if I had been going to meetings, out in service and studying my WT..... I said yes.... geez I guess that should have kept me from sinning.

Mark, you are young compared to most of us, so forgive us if we seem to "parent" you.

One more post before I go to bed.................

Yes, there are MANY superb elders. The two elders I talked to were very close friends of mine. Maybe the Witnesses are too good. Maybe they are just too nice to be suspicious about the Society. ( sigh......) I don't have any harsh feeling toward any witness. But I think the Society, at least on their part, should publicly apologize to the current and former witnesses whose hearts have been broken because of their misguidances whether intentionally or not.

That's all I ask. A public apology to our brothers and sisters. But I'm afraid the Society and many current Witnesses think that is not necessary because it is not their fault. They say that those mistakes/misguidances were due to their human imperfection; therefore, we have to overlook and they don't need to apologize.

"human imperfection", isn't it why we apologize to eachother for our mistakes as decent human beings? Where is Christian humility?(sigh.......)

Regarding the 9/11, in October we had a special assembly. A brother from Bethel came out and gave a talk. He talked about 9/11 and what they ( the brothers from Bethel ) did. He said that they didn't bring food or other rescue equipments to the Ground Zero, but only the Bibles and the Society's publications. He said that the people from Christendom brought water and food, and he also said, "They [ meaning the Christendom] should've known better." I just hoped none of the brothers ate or drank their food and water. Also I heard that the talks in the assemblies are pre-written by the Society.( sigh.....) You know, it doesn't hurt to be humble.

    Good night, everyone!

My gosh, they belittled the ones bringing food and water??? They ought to read their own reasoning book and see where it says that sometimes immediate attention to physical need is appropriate!!!!!

I was a Jehovah's Witness for 20 years. I pioneered, was a Ministerial servant's wife, and later an elder's wife. I was molested by one elder before the age of 6 and by my father, another elder, during my teens.

Yes, I told on them. No, no action was taken. Yes, they have admitted to their actions. Yes, though one is deceased, my father is still an active JW.

That is why I am here and speaking out. To protect young ones like you and your brothers and sisters. Over 20 elders know of my father's admitted actions and they will not protect you. They are defending him. That is why people like Bill Bowen and others have come, to protect you and your friends because you are alone against them.

    Hi!

I just wanted to ask you something.

What do you mean Jerusalem wasn't destroyed in 607? I always thought it was.

Oh and by the way... I was interested to read about what you said about the new and old Worship book.

I asked my mother who is an active member and she said (and apparantly she currently has a study going through this) it's been taken out because when you start a study you go through a brochure "Blood how can it save you" or some such title.

So the chapter is unneeded (can't think of the right word). Also a few Kingdom ministries are consulted I believe.

As for the blood card, they don't renew every year anymore because it doesn't go out of date so to speak, just cause it's last years model!

It's still legal even if it is dogeared and torn. (Saves the money I guess)

Anyway thanks for reading and look forward to seeing your reply about 607.

    regards

    Bsoho.

Bosho, You would probably believe the information, if you do your own research on 607. Go to the library and check a couple of encyclopedias and other standard references. They all give the date as 587, twenty years later than the date claimed by the Witnesses.

    Bosho,

What do you mean Jerusalem wasn't destroyed in 607? I always thought it was.

The WTS is pretty alone in the world in claiming it was. The evidence that Jerusalem fell in 586/7 BC is clear and overwhelming.

    Look at this thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=32094&site=3

    Thanks for the link.

    And information everyone.

I shall certainly be looking into it more.

    Larc,

I'm not here to get narky with you guys. I'm just trying to get to the truth.

Is it really a bad thing not taking things at face value?

Surely that is what this whole forum is about... not accepting the WTBS at face value.

Don't get annoyed with me! Please!

Bosho, I am not annoyed with you. I was suggesting that you do some independent research, because I think it has more positive impact, if a person seeks it out themselves. I have not rechecked the link that JanH provided you, but I am sure it will get you started.
