They dont get to the YOU WILL BE GOD and HAVE YOUR OWN PLANET till later.

I've asked my friends about that a few times and they quote Jesus from the Bible saying "ye are gods" - their attitude is - "yeah, whatever....who knows, I'm just trying to get thru this life". By the way, from what you've said, I think my Morman friends are cooler than yours.... yours seem a little uptight (with them bashing others religions). To be serious, we seldom EVER talk relgion...they don't wear it on their sleves for everyone to see, but I do notice that they live by what they believe (they're just not in-your-face about it).

    Ah But Double,

The Cities are still there, the People are still there, the Jews are there, the Egyptians are still there (lets not forget the Pharohs-which of courses matches), every city and people listed in the bible are still there.

But NOTHING written in the book of Mormon has ever been found. None of the Great Kingdoms or Peoples! No evidence of all these great wars! Dont you think the azteks would have the same type of information at there sites if the book of Mormon was written about them??? Why were the 'golden tablets' written in 'egyptian' when the book of Mormon was about the Indians??? You would think they would be 'found' in Mexico or South America, but NO!

Take the dead Sea Scrolls. Found were they should have been found, in the laungage that was correct, with the passages that closely matched biblical scripture (not perfect but close). Lets not forget that the Dead Sea Scrools are still available to read. Did not Jesus tell his followers to spread the Good News?? They did, they wrote down his teachings and spread the word.

The book of Mormon is based on one guy 'finding' some plates in the field and then telling everyone what they said according to him becuase no one else saw them (except the 17 people who had sworn testimony...yada yada). The bible is based on many documents that are still available and can be studied.

Basicly, believing in anything the Book of Mormon says takes the term FAITH to a whole new level.

Well, all I know is that I knocked on a door one Saturday morning, and the nicest old lady greeted me.....and promptly called her son to talk with me. Lord, I HATED to get Mormons. I never knew what to say to them - lol, they could talk in as many circles as I could!

I rented a movie about a year ago on Mormon missionaires - "Soldiers of Christ" (or close) - was pretty good in general.

Baptising dead relatives is still weird, imho - and if the spirit is *free* to accept the baptism or not......then why is it necessary in the first place? Of course, I'm buying into the Three Levels of Heaven, now aren't I? Lol............that's weird too.

Anyway! Nice to meet all you Mormons and xmomos! Love the cartoons, btw.

    I was thinking,

Those must have been some microscopic Heirogliphics if the entire Book of Mormon fit on a couple of plates.

an Aztec poet, says that Quetzalcoatl reverenced the cross

It doesn't suprise me at all that "scholars" would try to make the correllation between the cross and Quetzalcoatl. Anyone who has done serious stury of the precolumbian culture knows that the so called cross actuallt represents two things. The Milky Way, which all over Mexico, Central America, and South America, can be seen to cross the sky in the form of a gigantic semi cross looking object. And yes, they did think it represented ressurection but not by some dead lunatic that was killed by the Jews. The other representation is of the maize plant as it grows and the fronds fold outward...have a look at the ruler Pakal's sarcophagus from Palenque to see exactly what I'm referring to. BTW...the Aztecs also thought Cortez was the return of thier big bad god come to wreak the revenge prophesied long before Jesus was ever alive.

Book of Mormon 1 Nephi Chap18 v. 25 25 And it came to pass that we did find upon the land of promise, as we journeyed in the wilderness, that there were beasts in the forests of every kind, both the cow and the ox, and the ass and the horse, and the goat and the wild goat, and all manner of wild animals, which were for the use of men

That is just plain goofy! Even if animals had survived being released by early explorers it would have taken many to become noticeable...assuming they were not made prey by the real animals that roamed the West like cougars and bears. Bullshit is and always will be bullshit.

    Sincerely,

    District Overbeer

I can see where you are coming from, and I don't necessarily disagree with your statement, but you and I both know that the same argument has been made on this very board by those who would ridicule us for believing in someone who 'supposedly' lived 2,000 years ago and who said he was the Son of the One and only True God. To them, our belief in the 'phoney' Bible is misplaced and we are the ones taking FAITH to a whole new level (yeah, but what do they know).

    Double,

True. Believing that Christ was/is the savior takes Faith. But even my dad believes in Egypt and the River euphrates... LOL

Of course, that is assuming they were released by early explorers. In an earlier post there's a link that indicates horses were here previous to the European explorers...how they got here is anyones guess.

They were written with teeney, tiny gold pencil tools.
