Back not so long ago, there was a Jewish family, just like yours, that was gassed by the nazis
Primary difference, of course, was that most Jews gassed by Hitler were GERMAN Jews. The above quote is a better example of why we should be afraid of OUR OWN elected government as it takes more and more civil liberties from us to fight some nebulous enemy that is a 'threat to our national security' somehow (remember, Hitler WAS elected).
Again, Saddam has not the means, nor the motive, to conquer the world. He isn't interested in doing that - just getting the Western influence out of the region. Hell, we even get most our oil from Canada and Venezuala, and Russia is developing oil very quickly (and could use our money) - we don't even NEED to be involved in the middle east, and they don't WANT us to be.
Why don't we just leave?
Oh, wait, that's right - because we have 'invested' so much there.
Take a look at this if you want to see how TB responded to questions about Iraq, France and Germany in the House of Commons this afternoon:
Click on the Video Choice box for Prime Ministers Questions in the top right hand corner. When the player comes up, slide the bar along to around the 8th, 16th and 23rd minute segments.
'Course, if you listen to the full half-hour, you will be able to see what a bunch of rowdies we have in Parliament!
Rules are rules. You break them, you pay the penalty. Period
Yes, but who sets the rules? Yes, Iraq may have broken UN resolutions levelled against Iraq. But, why does Iraq have UN resolutions levelled against them? Oh, that's right, they invaded a neighboring country. The "US and friends" club has certainly NEVER done that.
Um hello!!! World Trade Center? Um hello?!?!?! Knock knock knock... anybody home? Saddam and Osama, they are on speaking terms, right?
The stupidty of this grows more and more and more. Argue it all you want, Saddam doesn't fork over what he has, war is going down anyhow. Your illogical argument isn't going to change anything.
All I can say is that I bet the Palestinians WISH they could say the same things......since Isreal has been in violation of UN resolutions and are having their entire economy (which was already shaky at best) systematically destroyed by Isreal while we sit around & do nothing about it. Oh wait - we do do something - we sell Isreal yet more military equipment & right at this moment are giving them a 14 BILLION dollar loan to keep up their "defense".
Then, there's North Korea who oops now have DA BOMB.......and yet we've known for over a decade of 4 separate concentration camps where 250,000 people every year get thrown into, and NONE come out. Where were the "rules" then - oops that's right - we didn't care, wasn't in our countries interest.
So, yes, while I agree that Sadam is yet another ugly little despot who needs our attention, unless we're willing to police the ENTIRE world (oh wait - we're already in 70 countries) - we had better let the UN do the job is has been commissioned to do. We are not the world's law maker & enforcer. Don't you find it odd which leaders our country singles out for "special attention", while other countries with such LARGER autrocities get no public mention? Take a look at some of the other countries, while America sits and does nothing.
Saddam and Osama, they are on speaking terms, right?
Actually - no. Saddam does not want the Osama's in his country anymore than anyone else - he has just as much to lose at the hands of these extremists. His sovereignty is threatened by them, so it is unlikely he would EVER develop an alliance with them. BUT - if his country is attacked, that's a whole different ball game.
