Thank you Blondie.
I joined years ago as an EX JW to discuss EX JW issues and support other EX JWs and those leaving or examining Watchtower.
I have no desire to join another cult or high control religion after all the years wasted with Watchtower.
I am also grateful for Simon's work and time keeping this site up for all these years.
.....And I'll smash your like button !!!!

What is missing is you. Start threads about positive experiences, ask sincere Bible questions. Share about music and books, the new schooling you've begun or whatever.
In agreement with blondie
It's like a recruitment drive for people to join their version of Christianity even before people have been given the opportunity and time to deconstruct from being in a high control group and then do their own independent research so they can make a informed decision for themselves.
I started 'lurking' here back in 2007 - That was the year I got in touch with Ray Franz and gradually realised my lifelong JW religion was NOT the 'truth'.
I am most grateful for this site and the wealth of information it provides.
I do personally find overly long 'preachy' posts a struggle.
Some posts make me feel I am being scripturally 'machine gunned' or 'pebble dashed' by others (possibly well meaning beliefs).
But, there are many, many posters and posts I do enjoy here - and for them I am truly thankful.
Fully agree with you Blondie. However, the site has been great for me over the past 15 years and I hope it continues to help others.

I actually don't mind the long comments when they are part of an active discussion. The topic SBF started ("How did JWs arrive at a clearer...") has a lot of very lengthy posts, but they're delving into an area that has centuries of research and theory and discussion. I just stay out of those, but I don't see them as a problem, because there are people taking part and having an in-depth discussion. Way over my head, but not a problem as I see it.
The conspiracy theory stuff has gotten tiring, because it consists of dumping bad information in large quantities in order to avoid having to discuss any of it. The only time those are interesting is when two nuts start throwing crap at each other because they've latched on to conspiracies that are in opposition. Because the whole thing is based on acres of complicated gibberish, those exchanges can be amusing for a short time. Nothing is more effective than having them hold mirrors up to one another.
I don't mind a long post if it is the author's own thoughts, but simply copying and pasting long quotes from other sources is just annoying
