  This a baited thread from the get-go!!!

  Interesting my mother(nonjw) asked me if I was a feminist? Because I was standing up for myself and ending marriage because of domestic violence. Not taking crap anymore. And coming from her. The woman is to take it!!!

  Now I come from the other side of the coin to dispell my shame. I was ridiculed for the lack of phyical beauty in my growing up years. Having ones self ripped a part over time because one did'nt look right. the self esteem and worth were worn away. Because I thought it was true. Its taken alot of work on my part to change that image.

  Those messages can be damaging either way. Whether one is beautiful or not so pretty.

  Yes I am a feminist a dyke that wears army boots, baggy pants and muscle shirts and chew gum.

  I am definitely work with social change for children and women and equal rights.

  I am sad that kind of mentality exists.

  in biology there are more girls than boys - and i can just say from my personal experience (at 3 universities) that the average female buisness student looks better than the average science student. part of that could be how they dress and style themselves which certanily can make a big difference.

  being seduced by a comfortable or glamorous lifestyle comes to very few women.

  perhaps...but if a gril is very pretty she certainly gets a different view on life than an average looking person. sad or not - beautiful people have advanatges.

  by the way...just wanting same rights is not how most people would define feminists. the term usually describes a militant woman that tries to put man down and views them as primitive.

  It has NOTHING to do with hating men. If most people think it means something different, most people are wrong. How many times do feminists have to state what they believe?

  hahaha this is a messed up thread geeze. points made......... pretty women might in fact get hooked straight out of the gate by some rich person............ but you damn well know that there being hooked as a temporary trophy wife or gf and will be replaced by someone younger and better looking (due to the fact that no one remains cute and perky all there life without silicone additives and even then) the men that marry that type of woman are all focusing on the outside and dont care whats on the inside as long as she is a yes girl. i have known several feminests and some of them actually made me feel bad when i tried to be helpfull and open a door or offered to carrry something for them and i find myself now not offering as much so as not to offend then i wonder .............. did this or that girl really need help? when i look at the ones i knew ill admit one of them was more manly acting than me but i think she made that choice to look that way because i have seen pictures of her when she was younger and she looked pretty enough. but to say that all feminests are ugly is just crazy because what has looks to do with intelligence or a persons beliefs. heck i even had a beautiful girl want to dance with me before an of course i was to damn shy, lol but she knew me from visiting with her grandmother and so she really knew me. so that just leaves me to question her sanity lol hahahahha. pretty people make me nervouse but cute ones are another story well................ kinda are sometimes lol.

  I've already commented on the other feminist thread, but this caught my attention and I'd like to comment.

  i have known several feminests and some of them actually made me feel bad when i tried to be helpfull and open a door or offered to carrry something for them and i find myself now not offering as much so as not to offend

  Keep opening those doors honey - no matter what reaction you get!!! You do that because you are a kind and considerate person. You don't do that because you feel the woman can't do it herself. I am a petite (5'2") and fairly attractive and intelligent feminist, who is perfectly capable of opening doors. But when someone opens a door for me, or gives me a seat at a conference, I will thank them out of appreciation. Whether their motive was because they were a male chauvanist pig or just being courteous, doesn't matter. MY response as a LADY is to be courteous at all times and to have a thankful attitude. If a feminist hasn't figured that out, it's not because they're dykey - it's because they're RUDE! There's a big difference imo.

  Okay since some want to be obtuse I will say it again. Most not all notice that I said most of the feminits that I have met are either ugly, dykey or both. I stand by that period.

  since i didn't get a beating in quite a while i will say that i think mecurious actually has a point. very beautiful females usually get successful man and thus arrange with the system.
