Doesn't Mr Bowen have a responsibility to report the crime to the authorities?
Isn't this what people have been compaigning to get the WTS to do?
It should not be a question of how "we answer" (or handle) it but how the proper authorities decide to persue it based on their view of it's authenticity.

Simon, I'm sure he will report whatever information he has to the authorities. I presume this was an e-mail and not all e-mail's are traceable. I have put our comments out on the silentlambs website. If you want to convey your personal concern and get more details, then let him know directly at silentlambs.org.
I can only believe that he will do everything he can to report it to the proper authorities just like we would.

sick touhgts from sick mind. this person should be put away for good. he is dangerous because he is trying to make himself a victim completely denying that what he did to little girl is wrong.
on the other hand what if this is sad atempt to put some positive light on elders actions, like ,you see they do disfellowship pedophiles, they are still doing something about the problems?what I am thinking that this could be made up account to refute statement that wt organization is paradise for pedophiles? either way it is sickening

I wanted to say that too, Simon. Glad you said it first, lol...
But after I found out my first comment was taken to another forum without my consent, I thought, well, maybe not.
What I mean is, some things I discuss here, and not in other places. I am aware now, that what I say here can be taken to other places to be read and I didnt know that until now.
I certainly mean no offense to blondie, but if I wanted my comments posted at silent lambs, I would have done it myself......and I would have been more eloquent.

This guy can rationalize all he wants, but remember: little eight year old victims grow up to be vengeful, powerful women. Don't underestimate the fury of a survivor.

For those who asked about what Silentlambs has done regarding this pedophile's e-mail:
The authorities were on the table from day one, we are working on it to make sure we get him.
This pedophile's comments show why the elders are so woefully ill-equipped to determine repentance on this man's part. That is why going to the authorities is best. I will admit that not everyone is trained in law enforcement either, but more and more there are specialists. I worked for a while with the state agency that monitors websites and discussion boards where people hang out to prey on children. They are very good and have a national network. Remember that not all pedophiles attend the KH, in fact the vast majority do not. So be alert to all possibilities and protect the children. Blondie -

This is one 8-yr-old victim that did not grow up to be vengeful. In reality most female victims grow up to be victims again later in life. And while we might be powerful, it takes a long time for most of us to recognize and accept the power within.

The failure of the elders to report this to the authorities stuns me.
If this had been reversed.... a "worldly man" who had preyed upon an eight year old girl whose parents were active Witnesses, I wonder then if they would have told the police/social system and the parents. If the eight year old told them, would the fact that the state doesn't require reporting come into play?

Excellent point!
