You may want to check out this site. http://quotes.jehovahswitnesses.com/ The quotes on that page are straight from the WT publications, so they will be easy to verify.
I wish you well in your search.
P.S. If you are worried about being found out. Just make sure not to post anything personal.
Welcome to the board. It takes a lot of courage to investigate all sides of our beliefs, especially if a JW. I've been there and what SS says about stepping off the cliff and then finding a landing site really applies. That's what i found at any rate.
What mattered most to me was educating myself thru other sources than only the Watchtower. I finally decided to read books by scientists about evolution, experts about mind control (Stephen Hassan), and even Ray Franz's books. It's the only way to determine the real truth, is to educate yourself.
I relate to your name! I understand your feelings as we all do or I should say we did at one time. I would like to know what changes have occurred in the past 6 months? It helps to talk about what is bothering you to people who understand and that would be us...! I once wondered where to go too and was very heavy hearted and frightened but I read Matt.11:28-30 and then, I knew where to go. Willy think told ya too. The "truth" that were given was error. Christ is the one and only Truth. It isn't easy leaving the jw teachings but you will be fed truth from above not from man. Hang on and pray and you will be just fine. You can pm me anytime to talk. love, dj
There is a lot of reading to do, so I hope your computer chair is comfy. If it feels sometimes that your world is rocking, relax. It just means you are on the same boat of the rest of us, and the waters have gotten a little choppy. I promise, things will settle down.
I do think it is important to continue your investigation once you have discovered that what the WT has presented as Truth is not entirely accurate. As you figure out what you no longer believe, do also spend some time thinking about what IS important to you, and what you DO believe in. If I could write my own scripture for the bible, it would be:
An independent inquirer Jehovah will not despise. JGnat 1:1
I can appreciate what you're going through, many of us have been there ourselves. It will get better, though. The best way to deal with this fear is to educate yourself about the Watchtower. You will discover that they are the disloyal ones.
I don’t want to get found out coming to this website asking these kind of questions.
This statement sums up everything that is so wrong with WT, that JW's coming to this board with questions are afraid to reveal their identities speaks volumes about the level of control and fear that this religion inculcates (to use a WT buzzword) in its adherents.
The summer 2001 district convention, with a number of talks mentioning apostates and the heavy-handed, almost comical drama "Warning Examples for Our Day" got me thinking - what are they hiding? Why are they so sensitive to criticism? If this is "the truth" it should stand up to scrutiny, shouldn't it?
It is not religious persecution for an informed person to expose publicly a certain religion as being false - Watchtower, 11/15/83
Welcome to the JWD discussion board !! You said "here goes nothing", well what you did was a lot more than "nothing".... Every journey of 1,000 miles begins with just one step. And you've taken it, goodonya!
If you're not in a position to have an "apostate" book such as "Crisis of Conscience" in your home, then at least go read www.freeminds.org for lots of carefully researched information on historical and doctrinal issues pertaining to the Watchtower Society. It was quite enlightening for me when I was deciding whether to go back to the JW's or not. "Crisis of Conscience" cemented my decision after reading the freeminds site.
