That's one of the biggest dilemma's facing those who're waking up and "smelling the coffee".....it kind of culminates in an "identity crisis" since being a JW is the greater part of one's existence as a JW...

Here's a post that might help you learn what else to expect as your personal "debriefing" continues, What the....:

Welcome to JWD...a place to relax, have all of your questions answered satisfactorily (perhaps uncomfortably, at first, since the answers are real "eye-openers" and contra to what you've been led to believe) and to find people you can relate to, who've "been there" where you are...to find friends and the freedom to express yourself....enjoy.

Welcome! You have been given excellent advise as to deprogramming yourself of the mind control by the closed society your are trapped in. I will add that you should tell NO active JW what you are feeling or where you are going, (on the web). You can trust no one! Even your best and dearest friends may sell you out. Stay under the radar as long as you can. In time, you will lose all fear of these people, but for now, lay low and learn! The Organization is happy with it's slaves as long as they are useful, productive and replicating! Once you are no longer an asset, they will turn on you like your a cancer! Maverick

welcome to the board, What the...

It is not easy leaving the Jehovahs Witnesses, but you are among friendly supporters on this website, we have all "been there, done that".

Take your time easing in; move at your own pace to what you feel comfortable with.

    regards,

    Welcome!

As you have courage to really learn and study this religion you may go through some serious shocks, hang in there, it is better than being in the dark. I remember finding out certain things that brought me to my knees (even vomiting a few times) it was so sad to burst the bubble I'd lived in for years. Once you realize it's not any different than any other religion you feel so cheated, so betrayed and so stupid, at least I did. Eventually, the things I was learning, it was like a fire burning in my belly, I had to do something about it, I had to tell people. I disassociated myself and moved on and am a much happier, positive person and not judgemental and self righteous like I was as a Witness. I'm free and I am very thankful for that and so are my children, BIG TIME. Good luck on your journey, this board is useful, so use it as you can!

    Welcome!!!

I have a lot of feelings just like you., I was raised in the Truth and gave it 36 years. Was very nervous to look at this site...did it anyways...I found a lot of truth about the Truth with the research here. Nobody is lying here. Everything is documented and you are pointed to other reputable sites.

The personal experiences that you will read here, will also be of great help. I for one was appalled at the lack of love within the organization. I have travelled and lived all over the US....I have seen personally how the sheep are crying for LOVE but are neglected. That really hurts my heart...We both know Jehovah and Jesus would not approve of his flock being treated in this manner.

There are many kind people on this board...nobody will expose you, but just remember: do not post anything personal.

    Enjoy your journey!

    Hello What The.....

I agree with DJ, let us know what's been bothering you about the whole thing. We'll help you make sense of them.

I remember being incredibly scared of being "found out" years ago when I was having doubts. When I left, there were no support boards like this, I had to do it all on my own. I wish this place had existed back then.

You're going to discover a LOT of things that are surprising. Do take baby steps. There are many others here who are going through a really tough time; there are ones with spouses still in the "truth", there are teenagers who are under 18 and trying to leave while living with their parents.

Good luck on your journey to finding the truth. Don't worry about where to go since there's lots of time to figure that one out. Focus on that after you educate yourself. You can't make an intelligent decision without education.

There are many, many, many of us still 'active' Witnesses that, because of our doubts, just go through the motions and consider the WTBTS just another man-made organized religion. So, do not think you're alone by any means.

Having studied the whole situation for a good couple of years now, I dare say that there are more inside the feel the way I do than there are blind-faithful ones.

Take good care of yourself and yours.

    Welcome!

It's natural to be apprehensive when you are having doubts about a religion that says that there is nowhere else to go. Already, you've received much good advice on your thread. There are, of course, factors to consider, such as family, etc. We look forward to hearing more from you!
