One year I invited a friend and her new beau to come for dinner and help decorate my tree. Little did I know that he was an ex-JW and had never done a tree; it turns out neither had she, for other reasons. All was well, until it came time to put away the decorations. Each and every ornament they had put up, was carefully affixed so that it took for-freaking-ever to get them off. Gee, I'd never thought of twisting those hooks around themselves. Sure makes for a secure ornament!

At age 38 I bought my first Christmas tree. I hadn't a clue what to do but fortunately my girlfriend (the future Mrs. Thirdson) knew all about Christmas decorating and we were NOT going to have a store style themed Christmas tree. Instead we bought plain ornanments and decorated them with push-pins, sequins, and ribbon and made each a unique design (about 60). We also bought plain glass balls and poured different color paints in them to create swirly designs. We collected pine cones and sprayed then with gold and silver paint. We painted little wooden shapes from a craft store and we bought propper copper wire hangers to do the attaching, strings of beads and lights. Our tree was unique!

In the past few years we have received a collection of other ornaments as gifts and added Mrs. Thirdson's own to our collection but we still have all the original hand-made ornaments from my first Christmas.

LMAO, yeah, the Blue Bubblegum will work great if its a small tree and figment of your imagination, LOL.

My first tree was frigging ugly, and 1 morning I came downstairs, finding it bend over nearly touching the floor, with all the ornaments still on it, lol. I used towels to steady it...

This year, I am going for a fake one, I want a huge RED fake tree, and I am gonna love it

    Good luck Elsie.
