OK, this is my 1st Xmas since I was 9, so I have a lot to learn. What I'm thinking I'll do is get the balls (they are purple and unbreakable I think) and I bought a spool of pretty violet ribbon for under a dollar. I'm going to cut the ribbon into approx. 8 inch lengths, run it through the loop on the ornament, and tie it to the branch in a bow-so the hanger is a part of the decoration, see? If you cut the ribbon at an angle, it won't unravel. Most of all, we shouldn't stress ourselves trying to do it "right", we should just have fun with it!

Hey, why don't we all post pics of our finished trees on the site!

Dawn, you are too funny! Those are great hints too btw!

Our Xmas tree usually doesn't have anything on the bottom two feet or so because our cats love playing with the ornaments!

We never had a Christmas at all. I was too little when my mother became a JW to remember before that. So this will be my first and I am going to be 45 in Dec. I think I will start small this year. Hoping to have a bigger house next year. It is so nice to read that there are so many celebrating for the first time. I don't feel so all alone!

Re: the cat problem. Buy some ornamental bells and hang them on the low branches. If your pet heads for the "forbidden zone", they will be busted!

Buy all your ornaments and lights in January for the following year. You will save 50-70%

I was thinking that. I am a huge fan of clearance deals. Day after Xmas I am definately stocking up more for next year!

Oh! I forgot to mention........put your gifts UNDER your tree BEFORE Christmas. I forgot to do that last year....and it looked kinda barren. Couldn't figure out why, duh.

Couple of days before Christmas, looked at some mags and New Light! Took the wrapped gifts from the spare bedroom, put under tree & Merry Cozy Christmas! (I don't tell anyone who's not an xjw about this - they just wouldn't understand.)

If I can get better at it..........anybody can. This year? The whole xjw family is at our house on Christmas Eve....with appropriate gifts under lighted & ornamented fake tree with appropriate good smelling candle burning for proper tree aroma.

And a good bottle of wine.

Check the sales after Christmas.........but go back later.......they keep marking down & down & down.

Go to specialty stores - they have gorgeous stuff & by end of Jan or mid Feb - 80/90% off. Amazing.

ok.. I feel silly because I don't know what that means..

I remember when SimpleSally told me about someone buying a tree for the first time and she said that person didn't know what a flocked tree was. She was saying.. can you imagine, not knowing what flocked means? and she giggled a little as she said it to me... I said.. what is a flocked tree? I didn't know! So she had to tell me!

Last night I was looking at ornaments.. I see what Elsewhere meant. I see only the loops on the end of the ornaments but I didn't see hooks for sale any where.. Elsewhere, did you find any hooks yet?? Shouldn't those things be sold with the ornaments?
