What Did you Plan On Doing In The New System?

Being an incredibly practical person I thought I would be assigned to domestic things like teaching women to make preserves, how to make clothes, how to knit. I spent a lot of time learning how to do these things. Hopefully someone would know how to weave and spin yarn.

I thought that we would need some sort of industrialization for the making of some things and people would be assigned to different jobs.

Actually I thought it would be a lot like the Bethel farms that I visited in the US and Canada but on a much larger scale.

It just seemed like a lot of work if you sat down and thought about it.

I know I wanted to own a black panther and learn how to play the piano.

i actually thought when i was a little kid that i would be able to play nintendo all day and drink cheap soda (because tahts all my friends mom bought us when we played video games). Every kids dream, soda and nintendo. Every teenagers dream, beer and sex. Every adults dream...well same as teenagers =P

I was like Joannadandy (no not sailing around writing poetry), I knew I would not be making it through. I had no delusions-I didn't have what it took to be completely obedient: I hated meetings, I hated service, I hated elders. I never once fantasized about what I might do in "The New System." But I also figured I'd grow old and die before it ever came (but that I was so "bad" I wouldn't even get resurrected). I'm glad I decided to make a life now and not postpone. Shoshana.

It's funny...that when you're a kid you have all these things you want to do. Mine were riding a horse, associating with wild animals, e.g. lions, wolves, etc. But then when you get older, you either have fulfilled these fantasies or have seen others experince dealing with wild animals. When I was a teenager I finally did get to ride horses---although with a saddle. I read an article of a family who rescued a wolf and he lived with them--and the husband had to learn about wolf behavior in order to keep the wolf from being aggressive. The husband had to be the alpha-male and the wolf accecpted that. People today walk among lions -- the ones who understand their behavior. A lady, I forgot her name at the moment, lived with and studied gorillas in Africa. Jayne Goodall studied chimpanzees for over 20 years. So that kind of took my fantasies away--although personally I would love to be with these animals.

In the meantime, I wanted to study things that boggle my mind now such as math, & physics. With a perfect mind, I'd ace those subjects. Also, studying genetics--I find that fascinating.

So then in my young adult years, especially after an elder's wife thought we would embark on space travel, that was my thing too. I love learning about space and just am amazed at the pictures the Hubble telescope has taken of nebulas, etc. So I guess now, in my older life, I still would love to travel in space.

I just hope that if there is to be a paradise earth, we won't become innocents that are food to more evil creatures (ala The Time Machine).

    LOL at Dr. Watson's comment!

On a sour note, at a circuit assembly many years ago, I remember a part about not complaining about those in authority. Then there was a demonstration of how it could even happen in the new system and they showed this one "Faithful" couple walking along admiring the beautiful flowers in someone's garden, and then another couple came along (they were resurrected--the last thing they remembered was being killed in a car accident--screams and all) and they greeted the "faithful" couple and they admired the flowers too--but then the resurrected couple criticized something some "elder" had said regarding some new arrangement, and ZAP!!!!!! a lightning bolt came down from the sky and killed them right on the spot. There were sound effects, the lights went off in the assembly hall, and there was a strobe light simulating lightning. I'm sure it scared a lot of kids....

I used to think that when the earth became filled that Jehovah ought to send the last generation of people to a new planet to populate it so that they could also have children. This he would continue in perpetuity with infinite amounts of planets. Then we'd all get to travel around. I just thought it was a cool idea.

Flowerpetal. My God what an assembly! ours were much more boring than that. Although the older ones could be lively, If I get thinking hard perhaps I will start a thread about such items.

New World. we all had a private paradise in mind. Mine was very English. A country lane , rolling scenery, working away with an enormous cart horse pulling a load , rather like a "Constable" picture. I always preferred the idea of working with animals to tilling the soil ..Does not this show what a materialistic teaching this really is? Mind you I always said that I wanted to be able to say that no one was hungry, oppressed etc. , Oh well.. so much for pipe dreams.

I was really disappointed when I realised that it was never going to come.

Oooh, Flowerpetal, that was so long ago, I was still in high school. So that's almost 40 years ago. I remember that well. They don't do those kind of "plays" any more. Few modern day dramas. The last one I remember is where some young brother was stealing money from the contribution box.

Wow, I thought, I was the only one old enough to remember that.

Being a medical person, i thought I was up shite creek without a paddle. Only maybe some of the resurrected ones might need medical attention. Plus i worked in psych, think there might be a need for psychiatric care in the new system? I know I'd need some help if the last thing i remembered was an auto accident and then woke up in a dewy meadow. (myabe i'm in a star treck adventure)
