Gaskin was pretty full of himself. A DO in waiting. Simcox was scum.

Can't remember if anyone mentioned Don Wallace. He was a hoot.
I started this thread over a year ago and still going, kind of like the energizer bunny.

What I find is that the COs fall into 3 categories. The bullies, the wimps, and the dont-make-wavers.
I find that over the last 40 years, the COs wield less and less influence over elders or elder bodies. The elders just wait 3 years and the CO is gone, and then it's out with old and in with the new with his own idiosyncrasies. Am I imagining this, or do the COs of the 21st century still have a heavy hand?
Blondie (who thinks the COs are between a rock and a hard place and want us to join them)

Daniel Gaskin was our DO about 3 years ago. He had just been appointed DO after serving as CO in Louisiana. Robert Suter is the current DO. They both are personable one-on-one, but definitely Society-men in elders' meetings, schools, talks, etc.

Bob Suter used to be our CO up in Massachusetts. He came to the house once to help me with my "doubts" about the org. He was a pretty good guy, I always liked him. But the bonehead he brought with him, Howard Stockham, was a real jerk. Stockham was training with Suter to become a CO, and he was insistent that the only reason I could have all these doubts about the organization was that I must be engaging in some hidden sin, and was trying to discredit the org to justify my wrongdoing, and didn't I have something I wanted to confess to them? Nice dodge to use when you don't have answers to the questions at hand, huh? What a jackass!
As you might guess, we didn't get any of my doubts resolved that day.

Does anybody remember a CO in the 70's named Brother Block. I recall that he had an unusual first name.

Hey doinmypart, Dan Gaskin served our circuit before he went into district work. He was ok, but you are right he is a company man.
