    For Room 215,

Regarding Lowell Quasny, do you happen to know if he had a brother in the Special Pioneer work named Ron. Ron and his wife Doris were assigned territory in western Tennessee in the 1970's. They were the couple who finished the indoctrination process of my parents.

Least fav CO: Nolan Wiggins, what a major jerk. Wife's name was Daisy. They served in Tennesse 3B in the late '70s. Later they were assigned to the circuit which includes Little Rock, AR. Just couldn't seem to get away from that guy! UGH!!!

Somebody mentioned Clayton Peace. Another jerk.

Fav CO: Gary Thompson and his wife Sally. I worked with his wife in service during one of their visits. She asked to work with me and then managed to NOT make me feel like an idiot kid. I still appreciate that. Many years later, shortly before we moved from south Florida, Thompson became the areas DO.

    For anyone:
The name Dennis Raftouplous (sp?) sounds very familiar, does anyone recall if he ever served during the late '70s early '80's in the Tennessee area? Same goes for Benner. At one time in the same time period, whe had a Brother Benner, but I cannot recall his first name.
This fellow did have a sense of humor though, so maybe it's someone different than the toady who helped pull the rug out from under Ray Franz.

There was also mentioned in this thread, a guy named Lett. ( I think his first name is Peter.) Any relation to the GB guy named Lett? Anyone know anything about this guys family. I may know some relatives.

“Silva,” the name of the CO with ancestral roots to Portugal that I could not remember earlier. Fine person as I recall, though it has well over 20 years since I saw him. His wife seemed like a fine lady too.

He is the one who later had Brooklyn Bethel in his circuit. Before that he was in Detroit. Before that he was in Indiana. Was a CO in the late 60s and/or early 70s. I’m not sure if he continued as a CO till the 80s or not.

    Does anyone remember him?

Mansavage, eh? Hee hee. He was our CO after Gerald Ford, I believe, though I was rather young at the time. The amusing part is that when he (Bro. Mansavage) left our congregation, I was about 11 and already of a noted literary bent. So some sister in charge of the good-bye party commissioned me to write a poem for him to tell him how much we'd miss him. The worst part, though, was the ending, because I was committed to finishing with the phrase "We'll miss you Brother and Sister Mansavage". So I tried:

"And though we live in this world that Satan doth ravage...
er, this world of men so savage...
how 'bout, this world that stinks of rotten cabbage..."

Mercifully, we were away visiting Bethel the day of the party, so my best friend at the time got stuck reading the poem aloud. It's a pity my mother wouldn't let me use the line with the cabbage.

    Hey Sam,

Are you the same Sam as my husband & I enjoyed dinner with? If so - was a nice evening.

Silva,” the name of the CO with ancestral roots to Portugal that I could not remember earlier. Fine person as I recall, though it has well over 20 years since I saw him. His wife seemed like a fine lady too.
I'm from Indianapolis - we were his first circuit. He, without a doubt, was my favorite - and so was his wife.

She was so cool - back then sisters were hesitant about having pierced earrings. Man, she had them - and wore big hoops. Went out in service with her, she'd prop her leg up on a milkbox (many years ago) and open a *huge* man's bookbag.

I had them over for dinner and lunch several times - always enjoyed their company.

Does anybody know a DO named Samuelson? Had the dubious pleasure of being in a meeting with him, the CO, the PO, the City CO, and my husband - me being the subject of the meetings.

Damn! He had soooooo much "presence" - all the men (except my husband) left sweat marks in their seats. He served in the Columbia, SC area around 1995. Tall, greying hair, ramrod straight posture.
Had all the earmarks of the FBI, CIA, or bank president. I got the feeling not many screwed around with him.

I met his wife, btw - seemed a really nice, sweet woman - quite unlike his presence.

    My two cents:

    Good Guys Dept:

CO Neil Barton: Prince of a guy, totally resistant to the efforts of some elders to ingratiate themselves through "gifts". You who have been elders know the type personality I'm talking about here.

CO Al Michaelson: Another great guy, reasonable, down-to-earth

CO James Vigg: This entry will surely date me, but I think he was one of the finest.

CO/DO Bill Green: Good guy, reasonable.

    Not As Fondly Remembered:

CO/DO George Cook: Pretty NARROW view of life, I'd say. Spoke Greek with his mother (on the phone) Liked to through his weight around at the Circ Assy departments

DO named Baxter: Delighted in humiliating the CO when visiting us as host.

CO Billy Ford: Obnoxious and very opinionated. If he liked you, things went well, but if he didn't......

DO named Koinjavich "Coin-Yah-Vich"...not sure of spelling. We nick-named him and his spouse "Jim and Tammy" because of the way they came off. Now that I think about it, I also had a personal nick-name for hime that rhymed with the last part of his name "vich"

CO Arlen Meier: I know others have put him in the "good guy" division, but I worked under him at a DC and found him to be a real arrogant jerk, sorry.

CO Neil Thompson: If he liked you, it was heaven, if not....

In recollecting some of these names, I'm reminded of many good men I knew who tried hard, like me, to "do the right thing", but sadly, do not know/did not know that they/we were so wrong about so many things.

    My picks:

    Best of the Best
R.L. Jones - Cool, bro. The first C.O. I saw that wore Armani suits. He kept it real for me. Last heard that he was being trained for D.O. work. Very hip.

Charles Jackson - DO served in Michigan for awhile and is in Florida now I believe. Awesome speaker that could put you in tears. Very dramatic and charismatic speaker. Very emotional.

Bro. Silva - I can't remember his first name (Fred?) Was a DO in Michigan back in the 80's. Easy to listen to. Highly intelligent.
The first traveling brother that I tried to pattern my speaking after.

Leora Brown - Heard he's Df'd again. I dug him. 1st D.O. I played a game of hoops with. Was fairly young when he served the Michigan district. He was never the same after he left here.

R.L. Smith - Dead and gone. Peeps absolutely HATED HIM especially the surburban friends. Had a really abrasive style. He served in NYC before he was put out to pasture (They do that to CO's that are on their way out. Ship them up to NYC to be scrutinized before they are relieved of their privileges.) I never took him to seriously, so things he would so would just be pure comedy to me. Popular Smith quotes - "Sisters wearing splits from can-to-can't", "Let's scrub these worldlings up with p & g soap", "Girdle down sisters, girdle down. Some of you look like you've got 2 piggies in a blanket", "Don't cry APPLY, don't move IMPROVE".

Paul Illingworth - The Don. Awesome D.O. Knowledgeable, well-spoken. Epitome of a teacher. He's the registrar for the Ministerial Training School Program for the BORG. He's all that....and he knows it.

Jack Moore- Dead and gone. White C.O. that was cool with blacks. Kept up with the lingo. Down-to-earth.

    The Worst of the Worst
Antrim Smith - Philadelphia brother. Fairly new to the work. AN ABSOLUTE JERK. Comes with new and innovative ways in how to be a moron. Haughty, pompous. Really made me NOT regret wanting to get out of the BORG. Makes you want to go apostate. It is lost on me how this C.O. got his get-out-of-jail-for-free-card. Doesn't give a damn about the friends. Cares STRICTLY about his POSITION. BORG needs to take a 2nd look at this idiot.

Grafton Stewart - Served Michigan for awhile. Out of the C.O. work now. WAS OVERWHELMED and everyone knew it.

Connie Wilson - Clueless...........needs to buy a vowel.

Rodney Thompson - Was the "Little Napolean" back when he was a C.O. in the 70's/80's. Is now a D.O. Wonder if he ever mellowed out?

    Hi Waiting,

Glad you remember Silva, and the dinner also. I too enjoyed the dinner very much.

The Silvas were great people. He enjoyed music very much – was a musician himself, though I do not remember what he played (sax maybe?). I accompanied them along with some others to Muncie one evening for a concert performance of the Cincinnati Symphony. He really ate up that event and offered to pay me for the tickets, but of course, I could not accept the money (sort of like giving them money in reverse).

Do you remember his “public talk” illustrations that kept everyone on the edge of their seats? No one went to sleep during his talks. He really did seem like a caring person.

    Regards,

Okay, DannyBoy. Where do you live? I've had all of those guys as CO's and DO's.

Al Michaelson was just great. His wife was the BEST!! Real down to earth people.

Bill Baxter was embarrassing. He gave a long talk about beards at the Circuit assembly, and there was one guy with a beard in the audience. I wrote him a letter, and had two of our elders sign it too. They agreed with me. He apologized!!! I still think he was a turd!
