OH jeeze the trinity doctrine again . let's see here . I think a main problem with it is that the holy spirit can not be identified as a person but rather it appears as an attribute a gift that is given or an invisible force . Jesus never claimed equality to God, like in john 14:28 he did not have all authority in heaven and earth as a man but only after his resurection did he mention the promotion in office . IMO
Did Jesus pray to himself ?

I concur. The Holy Spirit is a real stretch to include in a "trinity" God-head.
One more reason I believe in YHWH as God, the creator, the Father of all things,
and Jesus, his first born creation, through whom all things were created, our mediator, savior, and redeemer.

I don't know if Jesus played with himself or not.?.. Hmm I'll have to think about that one..
Good question tho..
OOPS.....sorry it was "Pray to himself"... LOL
.................
Seriously, .. it sounds kind of weird to pray to oneself. I continually talk to myself but just the thought of praying to myself feels really ..unnatural.

I guess I can understand the Trinitarian point of view better when explained in terms of the Rice Crispies breakfast cereal.
You have Snap, Crackle and Pop. You see them as three separate, distinct entities yet they serve a unified, coherent purpose.
While either the Snap, Crackle or Pop could be isolated and analyzed accordingly, each is empirically in union with the other two when the cereal is consumed.

Yes, but one must be careful to put their faith in those things that have a firm foundation, as Jesus illustrated with his parable about building on the "rock mass". So, I think it makes sense to put one's faith in what seems most likely. Again, God's "friend" Abraham, believed in a monotheistic God, and the majority of Scripture supports this belief rather than trinitarianism.
Monotheism means "one God." Trinitarians believe in only one God. Trinitarianism is thus monotheistic. Trinitarians believe in one God (not three gods). We also believe that this one one God exists in the form of three persons. We believe that the Old Testament primarly stresses the teaching of one God. We also believe that God has revealed himself as being three persons (most of this revelation comes from the New Testament, though there are indications of plurality within the one God even in the Old Testament).
Since this thread is primarily about the issue of Jesus praying to himself, I hope that the conversation sticks to this issue (these discussions seem to go better discussing one specific issue at a time, rather than a general Trinity discussion). I do hope (Lord willing) to start another thread on monotheism and trinitarianism soon.

One of the reasons why I satrted this thread is because of your comment on another thread: "And of course I love it when Jesus prays to himself because he is God"

So can something be fully platypuss and at the same time fully banana slug? It seems to me that certain aspects of each type are mutually exclusive, therefore the combination would become a *new* thing that was neither fully platypuss nor fully banana slug. If the partial platypuss part of the platyslug started praying to the partial banana slug part, it would indeed be praying to itself.
Nothing is sillier than a platyslug except for a platyslug praying to itself.

I go with wht seems much more likely without stretching to believe in something that has a shaky foundation.

Funny, I thought when I first saw the thread I thought that it read:
"Did Jesus play with himself ?"
Whoops!
Praying to another part of the godhead that you are a part of seems confusing on the surface but then when one thinks that jesus is was a man while he was on earth and that maybe his direct dial up line to the father and holy spirit was cut off because he was a man therefore he had to place a collect call in a sense to be able to reach the father who is of the same godhead that jesus was a part of starts to seem like a plausible explanation so i guess in that guise saying that one third of the godhead who was jesus had to pray to the father even though jesus is god and therefore he is in a sense really praying to himself therefore could make sense
