This is very interesting. I read part of The Source too. The Jewish people have a very long history.
I also read The Dummy's Guide to The Mideastern Conflict.
There I learned that that area has been carved up for some time especially in the last 100 years and that Jewish people were arbitrarily given land that belonged to the Arabs' for a given period of time, by the British. But the deadline came and went.
Yeru stated that the Palestinians wanted to destroy Israel. It sounds so simple. But I've read that Israel has carved up the Palestinians land so that they can't even get to their own farms at times. Sometimes husbands can't even get thru checkpoints to return to their familes at the end of the day. Students can't return home. All because of boundaries set by the Israelis.
Probably no one has heard of Rachel Corrie. She was run down and killed by a Israeli bulldozer in a peaceful protest. She was from the US.
But most important in that part of the world is WATER and from what I've read, the Israelis are depriving the Palestinians of access to enough of that.
There's always another side to the issue other than just the Jews wanting a homeland or that the Palestinians are evil people.
There's much much more to be said about that conflict and I feel it's pretty simplistic, well no, actually incredibly simplistic to have an opinion on that complex dispute on the basis of what's been happening in the past few years without taking into consideration what's been going on for 100 years.
So much of what we Americans know from our news sources are the current situation without the historical context of other countries. Then decisions are made based on limited knowledge. Prejudices are formed on isolated information.
Well, I didn't mean to be rude or offensive to anyone, just that it's unfair to criticize and wish deaths on a limited pc of the jigsaw puzzle.
Warmly,
Pat
