Absolute worst, biggest disapppointment,
Beloved - and no, Doodle, it's not you. I read the book three times, am a Toni Morrison fan, and still didn't 'get' the movie.
And oh yes, Swan, The Phantom Menace was another HUGE disappointment
Speaking of disappointing, how about Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country (you know, the one about the whales?) Puh-lease!
I'm with Gumby on Dune. booorrring
I love movies, and can usually find something redeemable in most of them, but anything with J-lo (except for Selena, I thought that was a standard biopic, not badly done at all) usually sucks.
Also, I got a flick from work last week, thinking it was an old classic that I would revisit, called "The Great White Hope". WRONG. It was a Damon Wayans ripoff, another actor that can be counted on to be in really bad movies. uggh
And how about them disaster movies? -------> Twister (I rest my case!)

Kind of like watching William Hung!
Funny is hard to do. Some are so bad they are good.
Then some are made to be good and are just quirky. I love quirky funny movies. People hate or don't get their humor, which is just a matter of taste. A lot of people I know hate Raising Arizona, but I think it it one of the funniest movies ever. Some people in my office don't like Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Others think it is classic comedy.
But I agree with a lot of the titles people here have chosen. Hollywood has churned out a lot of crap! Poor direction, poor acting, poor story, poor special effects, bad pacing, bad timing, or just plain doing this movie only because the TV show or the first movie in the series was a hit and they know they can make money with this garbage.

For decades, every time they take a vote on the WORST science fiction movie ever made, this one always takes first place: "Plan 9 From Outer Space."
Heh. Yeah but it's so bad its good. Spaceships made of Hubcaps(which are described in the movie as cigar shaped although they are round) and the strings holding them are obvious.Liberal use of stock footage.Ex:Every time a car pulls up to a house they show the same scene of a car pulling up to a house, regardless of whether its the same house or time of day or same people. One window inside the spaceship shows a cloudy afternoon sky. The window next to it is dark outside.
And that 'serious' guy at the beginning giving the intro: "Greetings, my friends. We are all interested in the future, for that is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives. And remember, my friends, future events such as these will affect you in the future."
If you think Plan9 was bad, check out his movie Glen or Glenda.Words fail me. You have to witness it to believe it.
talesin,
Some Star Trek is so good, and some is so bad. What about Star Trek 5: The Search for God or whatever the hell it was called. The one with Spock's brother. What! Spock has a brother! When the hell did that happen? And why is he more human than Spock who is half human? "Let me share your pain." "I need my pain!" Puleeze! "Toasting marsh mellons"? I can't believe they don't know what marshmallows are in the 23rd century.
And there is some cable channel that runs made for TV disaster movies that are Twister ripoffs. One is called Night of the Twisters and the people are trying to out run this twister that keeps following their car even when they make several 90 degree turns the same way the earthquake followed the train in 10.5 and then quit just as soon as it swallowed the engine.

"Greetings, my friends. We are all interested in the future, for that is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives. And remember, my friends, future events such as these will affect you in the future."
That reminds me of a presentation that we had to give from door-to-door!

I think every movie I have ever seen has been mentioned
'The Core' was pretty painful as was 'The Day After Tomorrow' What was the deal with the velociraptor wolves???? I really wanted to like that movie too! And for any of the parents out there who had to suffer through 'Thomas And The Magic Railroad' I feel your pain! Peter Fonda acted like he was in a coma (or just wished he was, to escape this crappy movie).
mission impossible 2 - I can't stand john woo with all of his slow motion action scenes
Hey all! Why don't we all get together and watch Showgirls!!
