I wish Hollywood would do justice to a Heinlien book
I agree totally! I think Tunnel In The Sky would make an awesome movie!

Valis,
But not Stranger in a Strange Land. The whole Messiah story line would get lost in the product placements and special effects. They would have to dumb down the story a lot to get an audience, and I would hate like hell for that to happen. I read that book as a dubbie and it was a guilty pleasure.
Behold the Man by Michael Moorcock could make a great movie, however. It might be a nice counter balance to The Passionof the Christ. It would probably be banned before it was even viewed, though. Maybe they could get Jim Caviezel to play the retarded JC.
Tammy
Crouching tiger, Hidden Dragon was the only movie I have ever walked out of, it was by far the most boring movie I have ever seen! Maybe if it were the Hidden Dragon's tiger crotch, it would have been better!
All the Lord of the Rings movies. Totally boring YYAAAAWWWWWNNNNNN.
Beloved was absolutely miserable to watch.
Cold Mountain
Where Art Thou Brother
The Sphere (Laughable!)
The Hours
Adaptation
13 Conversations about One Thing
About Schmidt
IronGland,
One window inside the spaceship shows a cloudy afternoon sky. The window next to it is dark outside.
That sounds kind of cool, actually. Too bad they didn't make it a minor plot point.
BTW, I really liked Ed Wood.

Years ago................Woman Under the Influence (horrible movie, and it was nominated for an Oscar)
The Postman
Waterworld (Kevin Costner should have known better than to do those two movies)
I also HATED City of Angels It was a good movie until the end..............terrible ending
mulan...the book The Postman is a great read...however it was long, drawn out, and most of the music was way too sappy.

wasasister,
What movies are you embarrassed to admit you like? Care to own up?
OK, most things with Leonardo diCaprio in them; there's something hypnotic about the way he looks, dammit.
Now, he was brilliant in What's Eating Gilbert Grape, and could have been really good in Total Eclipse if he'd had better direction or maybe better dialogue. (But I started reading Rimbaud because of Total Eclipse, so it wasn't a total loss.) Ditto Gangs of New York, which actually works brilliantly as live-action anime. Romeo and Juliet was...well. It was a very pretty movie. The Three Musketeers was pretty much a washout.
I've been avoiding Titanic. Maybe it'll be OK with the sound off.
Now, Catch Me If You Can -- that was just plain damn brilliant all around. I'm not ashamed to admit I liked that.

Oh, but what about The Moon is a Harsh Mistress?
