Why cannot some people say the words..."I love you".

Love is an action word, if you say it and don't show it, any moron would understand that.

How about those who show it but can't say it? I agree showing love is "learned" by example, but it appears others can learn to show love....when they personally were not shown love, with self dicipline. I think for some however, their guard is so tight in place it will never move.

It's a learned thing I think. To not make themselves vulnerable to that which could hurt them.

I remember when I was about 19. I had a boyfriend who was very good to me and we got along great. We were together for 4 years. He never told me he loved me out loud. But he showed me all the time in his actions and I knew. One time we were at Summerfest at the Marshall Tucker concert. And there's a part of one of MTB's songs "Heard It In A Love Song" that goes "Can't say that I love you but you know it's so" and when they sang those words he turned and looked me right in the eye and squeezed my hand.

I knew. And I also knew that there was something preventing him from saying it.

Ok, once again I was just told I was too harsh.

    Breathing deep,

This whole forum is about getting out of the witness stuff.

Why can't we get out of the we can't love stuff?

I am trying to be nice, and I am really. We can all love. Just get a puppy or kitten.

OK, am I good now F.?

Maybe if someone would read posts with a clear mind, they would be impelled to not go off on a tangent of mis-reading, and telling people to kiss their a**.

Please re-read my post, and tell me if what I wrote truly is a cause for attack. I was stating my feelings. I am sooooooooooo sorry that I feel that actions speak louder than words. Didn't realize that my way of thinking was soooooooooo far off. Bad me Bad me.

I Love everyone. There I said it, so now I guess I do not have to show it as long as I said it. Just saying it is all that matters.

Tell your reasoning to a child that gets the sh*t beat out of them by a parent, then later on that night the parent says "I Love You" just before they beat you again.......They said it, must be good enough, no loving actions needed.

I guess I really do need to change my way of thinking.

    This is a difficult subject.

    Complex.

    Individualized.

We all have our own stories, our own issues. It could be that you are both right!

What a revelation, huh? Saying it is important, and showing it certainly is important.

The question of why we 'can't' say it is an good one to examine, imho.

Now, come on, kiss and make up you two, and let the dialogue continue.

I would be more than happy to kiss and make up, as I used to think they were a neat person, but I fear that I would just get told to kiss more a**.

Boy oh boy don't I have a way of stiring the shit!

Hey guys......calm down. This scenario was a result of a conversation with a guy who is not a dub. This isn't a dub issue, but can apply.

    Ohiocowboy,

I think all agree with you that showing love is better than mearly saying it. I think those who can't show it would agree themselves. The problem with some is, they love, but have as hard a time in saying it, or even expressing it.....as hard as it would be for someone to skydive who is terrified of heights. It's a REAL fear. It's a fear that can cause that person to break down in uncontrolable tears to even talk about it in depth. This guy I talked to literally changed the subject when his lips began to quiver. He looked hurt.
