I presume you use prop planes- being of course the Germans developed Jet fighters in WWII

Please, for the love of god, go get an education and learn some history before you make claims. Hell, just do a search on Google first !

Planes were not invented for the military, like most things the military found a use for them but they were looked down on at first. The Jet Engine was invented by the Englishman Whittle and the know-how given to America as part of the deal during the war. The Germans may have invented one too but if they did it was later. They invented the rocket engine and did most of the early development (and it was German engineers who provided much of the know-how for Amertica and Russia during the post-war space-race)

    My dearest Simon,

Teflon was first used by the Military.

If you want to get technical on its invention then I suggest the Computer, the Internet, GPS, Cell Phones, Radar, Rockets, Satetlites, Jets, ceramics, encryption, email, and anything space based [well there is more, but why showboat?].

And thats just in the past century.

I guess I could also point out that roads where in fact develped by the Romans so they could move their armies around faster. But then again, those war mongering Romans started london....

    besides, who needs roads?

But thank you for your concern

I did not say planes. I said JET FIGHTERS.

And YES, the Germans were the first.

The first planes of course were flown by Americans *duh*

How abourt some pro-Al Quida sentiment written from when they were **allies** and being backed and funded by us? Would that be ok? We should be singing the praises of the Taliban and Muchahadean (sp) for how they bravely stood in the path of the evil Russian army.

Oh, look ... now Russia is our friend and Al Quida are the enemy. Quick, switch all our sentiments, erase the past ... forget, forget.

Sorry, but I don't swallow the propagandist drivel at the time - it saves me looking like a pratt later.

One interesting thing - all, or all the ones I'm aware of, of the war-poets always write against war. I wonder why that is? The pro-war stuff seems to be confined to those who have not faught in action.

    Indeed

Amazing how a V1 can transform into a international space station in a generation or two....

Point being- if you hate war that much dont use its technological innovations......

to be fair- easier said than done.........

Mmnnn... well, the Gloster Meteor had operational squadrons in 1944 which was the year that the Messershmitt 262 went into production.

However, the first jet plane was, believe it or not, invented in 1910 - well before both world-wars. The Coanda was invented by a Romanian and flown at the second international air-exhibition in Paris.

I think trying to claim that people shouldn't use technology because they have or haven't been invented and / or used in any military scenario is just plain silly though.

Should pro-war people not be allowed to use anything invented by civilians? Surely that would be equally silly?

Of course, civilians use planes. There is not much call for civilian FIGHTER flights. FIGHTERS are by definition, military only so I think this is a bogus argument.

    crazy,

why should one not use the good things that were developed as by products of wars? how is this hypocritical?

Seems man WAS created in God's image." If you don't do what I want I will kill you." Been that way through out history. I don't think anyone will ever figure out the solution to war and be able to implement it. If I sit and think about all the negative facts of life I get depressed. Death seems to be the ultimate solution to life.

    Sorry for the negative thoughts,

    Ken P.
