You are right LT, I should drop it too.
LT, I increasingly see you as very wise.
I appreciate the catty remarks made to my post while I was at work.
Since it appears that most of you misunderstood me, let me repeat myself: I don't mind a man crying. What I do mind is men crying to try to manipulate me.
Ladies, If you think you want a crying whining, sighing, hand wringing, manipulating, male, you are welcome to him. I dare say that you will feel differently when you actually confront one.
I enjoy the differences between the genders and do not see a need to blur the distinctions as if somehow one sex is superior to the other. Personally, I resent it very much that men have been made to feel inferior because they don't cry. It smacks of female chauvanism.
Robdar, just as I have jumped to conclusions about what you are originally talking about, you too are jumping to conclusions and now you are just talking crazy-talk.

First of all, my comments were not directed to you. I understood that you jumped in before you saw my other posts. Secondly, there is no need to attack me as talking crazy just because you don't agree with my opinion. Robyn
LT: LOL
Robdar: I fail to see where any catty comments were made. I used your quote and expressed my opinion. No cattiness there.
The last time I remember crying is about fifteen years ago, when I was absolutely sure our marriage was about to end in divorce.
I waited to cry until after I was sure everyone else in the family was sound asleep -- midnight or later. I was loud enough to wake my husband up, but I didn't even know because I was in another room.
Somehow being seen to cry, known to cry, only makes it more unbearable. It's not a matter of being perceived as weak or manipulative -- it's just that the observer's horror doubles the woe.
But I don't cry easily, not even when I'm seriously depressed. If I'm not far gone enough to cry, I can be persuaded to talk about what's making me sad. But I don't just need to vent, either. Not knowing what to do is one of the most upsetting things I have to endure.
gently feral
GF:Therein maybe a key to why us guys find it so terrifying.
By the time we hit the tears everything else has failed us.
To see someone else crying probably subconsciously takes us to that place.
Btw, I love your "sign off"!!
(((((LT,JWbot,Sheila< is not invisble .Sunny)))) Folks you all done really well working this out,I to have been at work since early today yesterday wow.... what a life this took on!
Interesting to me since friends and I had recently been talking about this subject....
Not the whiney, nerve-wracking sort of crying Rodbar mentioned. But the kind I imagine most of us don't mind the expression of, honest emotion be it from male or female.
Personally...I would have to imagine my step-dad as a human to even consider his tears as a sad heart wrenching thing . I seen him cry as such a tool of manipulation along with a manipulating mom tears or not. That by the time I got mature enough emotionally to cry when I needed it. I was also emotionally mature enough to appreciate tears from others...I only mention this as a personal thing....my perspective on my self...I am not...aiming any of this paragraph at anyone just telling my personal journey version.
If my comments offended anyone earlier I apologize. I meant no hurt to any one.
I'm thinking a white flag would be nice up here to wave then see if it gets shot down before we post again. Or perhaps a hat to throw into the forum floor and if it gets stomped then you know it's time to hush! Phew... I'll hush now.
I must have been reading posts from a parallel universe! I thought everyone gave great feedback. I saw no personal attacks on anyones feelings or views. I teased LT, but only because I consider him very wise, and mature enough to know I was teasing. jwbot, robdar, sheila, SP, and all the other great ladies who offered their feelings have my respect and appreciation. As I said there are no right or wrong views, we feel how we feel and unlike the WTS's cap on this, those feelings are valid! Even mordenukboy has a right to express his views, and if he read my little cracks about the WTS it may give him food for thought.
You have all been great, and I am humbled by the responses and the interest.
Thank you....as I wipe a tear from my eye...just one mind you Mav

Naww, just thick enough not to be able to translate the Mercan-speak and get the references
LOL
Bem:I hope there's been no offense taken, on this thread. I felt it was a really healthy debate.
Ok, I got close to gushing, once or twice, but Mav has that affect on all the guys...
I think it's brilliant that we can discuss stuff like this, from the comfort of our respective homes...
