Ermmm, no.
In our case when we say we need space we mean it!!!I guess the best route to take is to try giving a hug if you instinctively think we need it.
If we don't need it, you'll soon be told, so just back away from the unexploded bomb and everything will eventually be ooookay!Do you see the difference here?
We don't usually say the opposite of what we mean
Nothing to interpret, nothing to understand.I understand, Ross. I have a question tho.........you said "we don't usually say the opposite of what we mean"........are you saying that women do? Cuz, let me tell you, I usually have no problem saying what I mean, at least if I'm upset about something. LOL! You may not want to hear what I am saying, but, I don't believe in clamming up. And, just so you understand, I'm not insensitive either. I usually try to approach in a calm manner, if I can.......I don't come in screaming and accusing, unless you've already got a history of pissing me off by doing really unkind or extremely stupid things, like certain people in my life have. Then, if you have that history with me, I can go from zero to full throttle in less time than it takes to blink. I mean, if I've told you, time and again this behavior, way of talking, etc. is not appreciated or particulary intelligent, then hey, you've been warned before and deserve the bomb you set off. LOL! Am I making sense? LOL! Anyways...........{{{{HUGS ALL 'ROUND}}}}

Just give us a nice big LONG hug, let us cry, give us kiss, tell us things will be ok, and say I LOVE YOU!! Its all very simple, when we cry we really have serious emotions we need to let "out" once they are out, we are ok. It means the world to a woman to have her man hold her comfort her and support her during the "letting it out" process.

My mom was terrible to use tears to manipulate and she still does.I was so determined to be as unlike her as possible. That I didn't cry till it was like a flood gate opened up when I did. Then I couldn't hold them tears back. Well several ulcers and trips to the hospital spent on I.V. Zantac later and BEM cries now as needed. Jw hubby never let me cry scolded me for it in fact. But I now realize there are men and friends that know to let me cry, be sympathetic when I need it.Hug me when I need it, just please don't tell me to shut up that crying.
Men crying is a very honest expression of emotion always welcome.Like everyone else has said, 'cept when it's used to manipulate.
One of my favorite sayings/poems says "Crying is like a gentle melting".

My survival instinct is telling me to be very, very quiet, right now...
~nods to guys~ ~whispers"You know what I'm saying..." ~guys nod back~
Bem:
I don't think it takes too long to know when someone is using it to manipulate. My mother does that occasionally, too. I haven't got the time of day for it.
I'll still give her a hug, but it doesn't have the effect she desires. -

My survival instinct is telling me to be very, very quiet, right now...... yeah you are about to get in trouble man !
ok
What I think about it is that somehow it is true ... I've seen this myself in many ways and occasions ... women do use a double language (not everybody and less now than before why ? Because they feel more confidente and have the right to talk straight) I mean we only got the right to vote in last century ... were not even considered that we had a soul a bit before this precedent century!
Well I think it is because women (since maybe always) have been somehow controled by men (Men was considered as superior and the leader in the house and in the society) so it was probably a strategy to get what they want. Now that we know that we're not gonna get slaped because we want lets say for instance : some fresh air, or we want more respect () we don't need that kind of thing anymore. Women who still use it, are just following there rowmodel, they have been raised in this context and way of acting (They didn't realised yet that it's over - they can be as straight as men)

Frenchie:That's an interesting observation.
Here's hoping that we're breeding a new generation of free-loving, free-talking women, and that confusion will be a thing of the past...
I have my doubts, though
