It's a fine art ... if we make such a meal out of being asked to do something (and maybe a pigs ear of it too) then maybe we'll avoid being asked again !!
I notice the word "play" is in quotation marks. Obviously men do not play at being dumb.
Men and dogs are easy to understand. There natures are remarkably similar. They are simple and not dumb.
Men are cause and effect. Straight lines. Every problem demands a solution. Get to the point. Want something? Ask. Mean something? Spit it out. Expect something? Go pound sand.
Treating a simple creature as though it should be more complex causes problems. Mostly it is misplaced expectations.
Imagine you have a new dog and ask yourself what is the best way to train the dog. Reinforcement with rewards is what works. Find treats the creature craves (and we all know what THOSE are!). For every correctly performed command give a treat. You'll train him in no time.
In primitive computers there was a COMMAND PROMPT. You had to type in your command in unambiguous language that the computer understood. If you did it exactly right you got the response you desired. Men are like primitive computers. You have to speak their language and not yours. The commands have to be short and simple.
Men and dogs. Easy.

Honestly I don't think they are dumb or even playing dumb...I think they just tend to be oblivious to what is going on around them at times.

Thanks for the chuckle. Any woman with kids, can relate. Having been married to a long time elder, and raising 4 kids, I can DEFINITELY relate to Sunday morning craziness. God help me if I expected help.................of course he WAS the WT overseer, and had to go over the lesson one more time.
