gumby Almost all names at that time were titles, why would Jesus be any different?

Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, (or authority) saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

The real question is "did he have the goods?", was he really who he said he was? D Dog

Titles preceeded the name often, but the given name followed,

Peter, james, john, paul, matthew, luke, were names people identified with. Sometimes the name was followed by their trade....such as Simon the tanner, paul the tentmaker. Jesus name wasn't preceeded or followed by any name.

LOL. Here's another track: Matthew 27:16ff (according to several manuscripts and versions).

At that time they had a notorious prisoner, called Jesus Barabbas (meaning "the son of the father," apparently a surname given to children of unknown father). So after they had gathered, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you want me to release for you, Jesus Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Christ?"

    Another troubling "double" story...
