    My dear Country_Woman,

"CZAR: and you fools call him a relic" and as he was calling "fools" others I was pointing out that his remarcs were not that intelligent (because they ain't). Read the posts before you write a reply.

I would call that fair enough...............

As far as the rest of your post, well ... ummm... yeah you're right if you see him as a "head of state" then I'm with you but if you see him as a "the rapresentative of Jesun on earth" then sorry I find that out of order.

as head of the Roman Catholic Church he is entitled to respect

No he isn't entitled to anything, he is entitled to what's granted to him. (like anybody else) With all due respect to you there's no connection between respect for him and the number of followers. (we call that a common place) There is however a connection between his believes and his actions. I don't have to agree with him in order to respect him, but I can judge his coherence (like with anybody else). So I will not grant him my respect because he is incoherent.

The man that didn't get to his bed was illustrative not meant to say that it was the pope's fault.

I apreciate you trying to be nice to all but I can see a lot of people saying what they want about JWs and many may even reconsider the catholics as an option even though pope is a much bigger prick then all the GB members put together.

Now you may remain onto your position and I can still respect you. But If I see you openly confessing your disrespect for GB then you will have proven to be incoherent. If I find many incoherences then you'll lose my respect. (we call that common sense).

That's why somebody goes out and creates a forum like this (He has found many incoherences with JWs and he's pissed off about it)

    RESPECT

    Stromboli,

"the rapresentative of Jesun on earth"

No I don't see him as the representative of Jesus on earth. - and as far as I know he don't presume either.

I was never a Catholic and don't know much about this faith, but I always thought that he is the representative of Peter (the one with the keys according to this particular church).

Further, in my opinion there is a big difference between the Governing Body and the Pope.

Both pretend to use the Bible as a guide - but the GB deliberately lied and twisted Bible texts and or gave a very personal explanation of prophecies. Their (changing) rules are causing lots of misery in general.

Okay, the Roman Catholic church is'nt free of debth either - but they are not in the business for mindcontrol, nor do they order their faithful followers to shun their apostate members, even when those members are blood relatives. What's more, in case their individual members (priests) are going "in the fault" committing crimes, that ain't sanctionated by the church. Lower echelons will try to cover their members, it ain't an order from the pope.

This Pope did ask forgiveness for several mistakes - made by the Church.

I have never heard that the GB asked forgiveness for made mistakes: instead of - their is New Light.

I agree in a way, with no respect for the Pope "cos he is the head of this church" but this particular Pope, is - in my opinion - a remarkable and admirable man. Respect is something you have to earn - and I think this Pope did.

And - as I see it, it is just common decency to be polite. Insulting people and calling them names has never been good for anything at all.

mmm...I may not agree with everything the Pope has said and I'm not a believer. I don't even think it matters that he has a billion followers.....from everything I've read and watched about him...he doesn't seem like a bad guy. Both of my roommates are lapsed Catholics. They don't attend any services and at least one is an athiest now but neither think ill of the pope. From what both of them say the people who have the hardest time with him are the fundamentalist Catholics.

He has, from what I've seen tried to correct some wrongs done by the church and I give him credit for that.

Contry_Woman: don't know much about this faith

    Well....

    the GB deliberately lied

The pope didn't????? why did you take up a post you know nothing about??? I know, it's because I used an insult and you didn't like it but it's fine if all do it with JWs.

they are not in the business for mindcontrol

Not anymore, because there's nobody to control. Go to church on sunday when there isn't a wedding or a funeral. There is nobody there! catholics have already passed the stages where JWs are now. People have run off already!!!! Now to be a catholic all you have to do is say so.....

Respect is something you have to earn - and I think this Pope did

I don't. he earned my disrespect though.

Insulting people and calling them names has never been good for anything at all

Do you say the same thing on posts about JWs???? I doubt....... Anyway he is the pope he is not "people" it's fun try!!! then do the same with Bush again very liberating.

Under74: he doesn't seem like a bad guy

    Yeah

I think you don't know enough and I can't be asked to explain. This post is in the wrong place Sorry MEA CULPA ("my fault" in latin, yeah they even use a language nobody speaks anymore)

When you're calling me ignorant I think you'd better explain!

Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't me they don't know enough. I would hardly compare the Catholic church to the JWs (and I'm speaking as someone who finds fault with all religions). Explain what you mean--what has the pope done to get your panties all in a twist? OR face the fact that not all people see things the way you do.

"Because he makes speaches nobody can understand?????? (insead of going away with dignity and letting go at that trone)"

Sounds to me like you have a problem with older people who have certain physical disabilities. Remember these comments should you reach 84 years of age and aquire some physical problems. The Pope has had decades of experiences that we young ones can learn a lot from. We may disagree with his conclusions on certain things...but his experiences are valuable nonetheless.

I am troubled by this tendency in our culture to just throw old people away and it seems that is what you are advocating. I admire the Pope for still doing his best to serve others in spite of his physical ailments. He is a tough man.

It's not that may friend it's the responses, your was: "he doesn't seem like a bad guy" we are talking about the pope a very powerful head of state!

Don't get touchy on me man, we're all ignorant about something. and I do know people don't agree with me and I'm fine with it LOL

read the the responses.... full of common places... i.e Country _Woman has admited she doesn't know much about it then why on earth she has such strong opinions about it. Now I would have to start explaining from "how to discuss".

    LOL

That's quite simply not true. I don't know where you got that but when somebody makes accusation like that is usualy reflecting his own fear or even his own inclination. he makes speaches we cannot understand and he shoudn't be there because many could do a better job but he is not interested in that he wants to stay put he likes his trone. That's no disrespect for old people at all it's just the realization that we become old and we have to let go at some things. He could do a lot without making speaches and letting a younger man in to do more much more. but he won't!!!

I could tell you a lot more reasons why I couldn't possibly have problems with old people but you are in the accusing business so I will let go on LOL

Under74 see...... what did I tell you......

    Stromboli,

Indeed, I don't know MUCH about this religion: it is'nt mine. I stated this cos I am not absolutely sure which apostle I should name here: Peter or Paul, that's why I mentioned the one with "the Keys" and it was an answer on your question.

But I do know something about common knowledge - about manners - about civil behaviour.

At the moment I've read enough to know that you won't understand me.

Since you are capable (and willing) to shout harder then I do, that's why I shall no longer participate in this thread.

One of the single strongest advocates for social justice in the world, currently, is dying in the hospital... and you fools call him a relic.

    What utter bollocks im afraid!

Stromboli i agree with you.Social Justice??This is a Man who as you say presides over a Billion People, and one of his biggest advocacies as head honcho of catholicism?Lack of Birth control leading to, at the very least,a distinct increase in poverty in Latin America and other 3rd world Catholic Countries!

whilst i wish no Man harm,i think people should think at least think twice before worshipping any Human Being. Then think a few more times for good measure!
