And we bailed your asses out twice in two different world wars.

Why does this idiotic statement get dragged out every time some American doesn't know how to argue a point? Guess what? Germany was the "bad guy" in both world wars, so I guess we'd better hate them to this day.

It was half-a-century ago! Let it rest and live in the real world today and actually think about issues instead of comparing dick sizes.

    Francoise,

    Well spoken!

    To all others U.S. bashers,

Who has actually read and understands the treaty and it's true impact, not just the spin that you watch on the evening news?

Alright Seeker, you pounced on what you THINK is SSMaster's easily defeated argument - then left it undefeated (frequently blow smoke up your own pants, do you?). Go for the gusto Seeker; take on the big argument.

We've had lotsa fun together when we've agreed. Now what?

I'm american born and raised. I only make jokes or
statements about what I am or was. Thus Polocks,
Catholics, JW's , and the country I belong too are
    fair game.
1-Yes treaty went forth with out U.S. when discenting
    boo's poured out.
2-6 Million JW'S is 10% of 1% of the earths population
    enough said.
3-This is interesting, first let me state that Chuchill was
the ONLY great leader of the Greatest generation.
Now you say in one paragragh that the good ol' US
is called on to be the free worlds police. Then you quote
the Greatest leader"No socialist system can be established
without political police" So which is it you can't have it both
    ways.

It seems to me we are very Facist why should,China,
India, Indonesia give a rats ass what we think. Isn't there
world as important as ours. Much like the JW's with a
very very small part of the worlds population we americans
think we have all the answers and only us, how pathtatic.

Slip is that Mahoney----They would have won with out us
in the first one. The second one was ALL political my
friend you need to go and read please follow the greed.

bajarama---Your comment is trully american. Instead of
agreeing to at least head in the proper direction ah the
hell with it doesn't cure all ills. Great changes start very
small. For instance a bad change for example. Taxes
take anyone you want. Starts out with NO taxes and Floated.
Don't worry it's only a penney or two. Well my man it
is now 50% my how those pennies add up.Head in a
direction and it has a snowball effect. But are Greatness
has passed quickly and before I die Asia will be number one
and that my friend is "Just the way it is"

    Francoise,

There is nothing to argue, that statement is totally irrelevant to today. 50 years ago, the world should have been grateful to the U.S. for their help (and grateful to England, and grateful to other Allied nations).

That does not mean America can sit back and do whatever the hell it wants now while relying on the tired, "Oh we saved your ass, so shut up" attitude. The past does not excuse the present.

As great as America is, its citizens are letting it go to hell and the yahoos are still running around saying, "World War II! World War II!" No wonder they don't see the problems that are happening right under their noses. The rest of the world sure sees what's happening. The Land of the Free is rapidly becoming anything but.

But hey, let's just trade tired platitudes and everything will be fine in the future. Have another Big Mac...

    bajarama,

Who has actually read and understands the treaty and it's true impact, not just the spin that you watch on the evening news?

I'm an American citizen who is proud of his country and appreciates my freedoms. One of my freedoms is freedom of speech, and I use it. Sometimes I use it to praise America, and sometimes I use it to bash America. When it deserves it, I bash America. I have the freedom to do it, I have the right to do it, and I have the obligation to do it as a citizen. Or should I just sit back and let this country go to hell?

As for the Kyoto treaty, of course I have studied it and I know that it is more complex an issue than you hear on the mainstream news. Give me more credit than that. What you don't know is where I stand on the treaty, or global warming, or any of these issues. It isn't what you'd guess. I only jumped in when I saw someone make a statement that was totally irrelevant and stupid to make in this discussion.

    xroads,

I asked who has actually read the treaty and understands it and it's impact, not just the spin they see from the socialist media?

I also believe America has jumped the track and is on a downhill course to doom. I believe the nation our childern's childern will inhabit could be a far cry from what the founders of this nation intended. The dream called America has been poisoned and like Churchill I blame the socialist.

Think about it, people who lived in the U.S.S.R worked 12 months out of 12 months for the goverment. In the U.S. the average person works only 4 to 6 month out of the year for the goverment. What will we do when it's 8 to 9 months.

    Francoise,

So much to justify your country's objective and immaculate Gott-mit-uns right to increase its global production of greenhouse gases from 25%. I suppose all international treaties are socialist ideas to you, not grounded in objective 'reality'. What about the international criminal court -let me guess: socialist? Better check under your bed Fran, there could be a socialist waiting to get you.

the sentiment that the Protocol couldn't possibly be wrong because the entire world has now ratified it ( Did it? I haven't heard the news today) is the same argument as "how could six million Jehovah's Witnesses be wrong?"

"Did it?" -- Yes it did. And hands off my sentiments. But why should YOU care whether the world is against you, you're an American, yessir. And it is not the same 6 million JWs argument - you know damn well, check your figures. Or perhaps you think that 1 American is worth: 2 Japanese, 5 Ethiopians, 8 Indians, 10 Chinese, and 20 Brits. And what was this shit about Britain 'having no moral right'. Care to explain away 60 million people who don't matter.

When Bush said Kyoto was 'fatally flawed' he was trying to fatally flaw it. But he failed because the world went without him. The treaty is a reality now. It will make an economic bias for more efficient technologies. It isn't immaculate and objectively perfect but the main point is, it is an agreement by the world to limit greenhouse gases, and to limit them further in future.

bringing nine-tenths of the world's economic power "down to their level,"

This looks like an unproven theory to me. Show me how the effect of Kyote is going to be downness. And what is this nine-tenths, might is right? Uncomfortable to you, you'll find America getting all dirty and involved pretty soon, "there's money to be made in carbon reduction"

the world's environment can "only be rescued" by it and I say to hell with it.

If Kyoto has been presented as the rescuer of our planet, I haven't heard of it - even in my socialist stink hole - you're just huffing and puffing, it has been consistently presented as a START no more. America is now isolated, I regret this, it is a laughing stock. While I am laughing too, it doesn't make me happy. I know, being a clown doesn't make you wrong - ya ba da.

(Whoever brought up WW2: thanks for bailing us out of WW2, and thanks for waiting until we were fighting on our knees before you did anything, a nice expediency. Of course 'us' and 'you' aren't you and us really, but who cares, lets make a lot of noise)
