Is this what it has come to? We were in a cult and finally escaped its' control...only to find that a bigger entity now has the power to track and control us? Has a know all...see all God been replaced by a government that is just as omnipotent? I have nothing to hide. I am a law abiding citizen....heck, I don't even get parking tickets!!!! I do not want government intrusion in my life. Why not control the borders before we put upstanding American citizens in a virtual prison??? That's what it might as well be... everyone tracked and contained...a database defining who you are.... Not me...count me OUT!!!!! Y'all are drinking the Koolaid.

All one has to do to see what happens when a government has too much power is to study history
It is the ultimate irony to me that we can rant and rave about watchtower abuse of power (for example: the jw medical receptionist who reported fellow jw medical info to the elders)…you can see how wrong that is, but are completely willing to allow the government to do that and much much more….
I do not want the government to be my nanny. I do not expect it to protect me from every possible crime. I take reasonable precautions in my daily life. No matter what a government does, it will never prevent all crime. That is reality. We live with risks every day. Heck, wrapping us all in cotton batting and confining us to rubber rooms might make us safer…but what kind of life would that be? Giving up freedom and privacy will not assure your safety.
One could use the same reasoning… “ If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about”… to justify putting cameras and recorders in every room of every private home. After all maybe there’s a child molester there…or there’s domestic abuse…or maybe someone is growing marijuana…. If you’re not guilty, you shouldn’t mind the intrusion...right?
Someone on this thread suggested gathering DNA from every newborn. Why stop there? Let’s link that with all the private info on individuals…medical records…financial records…purchase records…school grades…employment record…religious affiliation…organization membership…library records…all the internet sites visited and participated in…phone records…GPS records and all the video and audio recordings made with or without the individual’s knowledge…etc… Let’s trust the government to keep that information secure… after all, you don’t have anything to hide…do you? What other possible reason could you have to resist? Sound Orwellian? That’s because IT IS!!!!!! It is only a matter of degree… it’s a very slippery slope. Once this Genie is let out of the bottle, there is no turning back. Whoever is in power (are you sure it will always be someone you trust???) will have access to every intimate facet of your life. I cannot fathom that any thinking person would want such a thing.
We have the technology to do all of the above, and there will be some politician who tries to make it happen…. It’s just a matter of time. It can be slanted to make it sound like it is in your best interests…and will make you safer. I have now doubt, after reading some of the posts on this thread that some of you would applaud it… Who will keep us safe from government…and any unscrupulous person who figures out how to access that info and use it to victimize us? I can see a new form of crime emerging here… then what further measures will you take to counter the effects of such….
I am not a believer in conspiracies… I don’t even think that you’d need a conspiracy to make all of the above happen… just keep on the road we’ve already started down… Sad.
Freedom paid for by countless lives…just flushed away to make you feel safer…in reality you are just opening yourself up to be a victim of a different kind of crime.
