Heathen!!! Tell me you're kidding about the 'new jerusalem, ark thingy landing on the earth, saving the faithful....please!
That's because dubs attract people who are convinced the world is going to hell in a handbasket and are looking for easy answers to difficult questions about why life is the way it is and (some) people are so damned obnoxious, cruel or evil.
Right on willyloman! It's a mentality that says, the world's doomed and we desperately need to identify then cling to the right group to survive. So, the need for truth is linked directly to anxiety and desperation rather than a calm dispassionate interest in how the overall picture adds up. Desperate people believe desperate things...and they overlook a lot of contradictions, half-truths and straight out lies in the process.
Desperate people believe desperate things...
Hyothetical field service scene:
"Knock, knock."
"Who's there?"
"Desperate housewives."
So the NUMBER 144,000. was sealed but they can still be picked(According to the WTBTSup to armageddon?
That is assuming people believe it..which I don't .
As someone told me one time..religions pick and choose what can be taken literally and what can be taken symbolically.
I am assuming some of the posters here believe in a Armageddon according to their posts?
But I personaly think any destruction done to the earth and it's people will be man made.Which ironically is exactly the same as the bible's discription of Armageddon!
JMO...Snoozy..

You're a fan of the original Battlestar Galactica too!

"Rather than having parameters of time limitations or any set starting point, the "generation" is instead said t be identified, not temorally, but qualityely, by its chracteristics, as in the ferenece to an "evil adn adulterous generation" in Jesus' time. " this generation" is now said to be "the peoples of earth who see the sign of Christ's presence but fail to mend their wasy."...."
Yu mean it's not a literal generation of people who shall not pass before these things come?
Surely, this will stumble me. :-P

"By 2034, they should be all gone, not too many people live to be 120 or older."
That not absolutely sure. We do not know the progress in gen-therapy in the near future. If the first patents in gen-therapy expires in the next years (mainly Craig Venter`s) - this will push the progress in research and development wordwide. Maybe they will find new revolutionary anti-aging methods soon.
Blondie:
Erich, I hope you know that I am just joking about the 2034 date
Hi.
Yes, I see. But, on principal, I think that the final fulfillment of WTBS-prophecy will differ totally from what has been expected by 98% of JW`s. Although, whatever will happen - it will show a sort of fulfillment!

Hi Erich!
Which other WTBTS prophecys have seen a fulfillment, or even a sort of fulfillment, please?
Hi Gill,
A detailed answer would need a long and time-consuming explanation. E.g. think at the date "1975". There had not happened armageddon, of course. But interestingly, since those days, the world finance system is out of control, and all nations worldwide got high government debts. That situation led to globalization efforts that change nothing, except leading to more and more unemployment. The world situation meanwhile is irreparable.
Is it pure coincidence? I dont know.
