Luna I intentionally cook four or five portions of a meal and store it in the fridge to use over a few days. It saves having to spend time to cook each portion separately. Some people even prepare 10 or 15 portions and store them in the freezer for longer term use.

I'm a good cook. I can cook about anything. I had some really good teachers. I worked in bakeries and with caterers for over 11 years. Many restaurants aren't as good as home.

I think most resaurants are not as good as home because they try to cut corners with quality to make more profit or have more attractive prices.
Some claim they serve home made meals ie made as at home to lure customers. -

Jeannie... my dad's trick was to look for where the police ate. Probably not a bad idea.

Let's see my hubby is vegetarian (as am I), is Asian so can't have dairy products, is allergic to mangos, avacados, and papaya, and hates portabello mushrooms. So it's easier for me to make dinner....LOLSo what do you eat? Beans and tofu?

Greendawn....Asian's are 90% lactose intolerant. And Lactaids cause side effects in various people. I can use goat's milk as a replacement or coconut milk, soy milk or rice milk for that matter. My goat's milk cheesecake is darn good.
Euph...yup lot's of black beans, tofu, seitan, chick peas, and lots of eggs, ..etc for protein. There are also quite a few fake meat products that are quite good. The fake sausage is good. The fake chicken patties you can't tell from real chicken. I do eat sushi once every week or so and eat fish then....hubby doesn't....I just can't give up sushi :) -

We used to eat out about once a week, but have pretty much relegated it to special occasions since we got serious about Weight Watchers. I do the cooking at home for the most part because it's easier to control what goes into the recipes and therefore how many calories, fat, etc. is in each dish.

We usually eat at home but once in awhile i need a break cause husband refuses to cook ,never has and i am sure never will so maybe once a week we eat out to get the cook out of the kitchen.

I am trying to cook more since I discovered and joined the local Costco. I have like pounds and pounds of chicken thighs, so I have been digging up new recipies lately. Right now in the oven is chicken with rice/cranberries/almonds/barberries/lime and some Persian spices. Last night made a dish with a recipe from the newspaper with lots of mustard. It was really easy and really good. Probably $5 for the home cooked meal, would have been maybe $10-15 at the cheapest to go out. But lately we've also resorted to frozen pizzas since we're so busy.
Evil force: I have never seen you use the word hubby. It's cute.

My wife is a fantastic cook, so I don't have to worry about meals anymore, though I usually eat out at lunch every day.
Before I got married, I went 5 years of not fixing one meal at home.

we rarely cook, but when we do it's amazing. we get takeout a lot and joke about our inability to cook - had another couple over yesterday evening and blue them away with the meal we made!
i'm in a big city so eating out is not that much more than cooking - if you go to the right places!
