I'm curious, has Indian food taken off in America? If I visited the States could I get a thumping hot Lamb Phall, califlower bhaji [cooked in ghee not oil], prawn on puree and roti bread?

Depends where. Here in Boise, there are only two Indian restaurants; one's not very good, and I haven't tried the other one.

If you're in a larger city, it's easy to get good Indian. It's nowhere near as popular as it is in Britain, however.

I eat out only one or twice a year. It costs to much to eat out here. (good food that is). I enjoy cooking, so making dinner is no big deal. In fact, I'm getting pretty damn hungry,,, i'm off to go make some din din!

We like to eat out once in a while....

...but it's just not as good without that LOVE ingredient.

If you are lucky enough to have a Save A Lot grocery store near you, cooking and eating at home will almost always be cheaper than eating out. I love to shop there. It's true, you do save a lot. Then I look for sales on name brands and things Save A Lot doesn't have and get them from other grocery stores. I don't go to Super Wal-mart because it's too far away, but they have great deals, too. I'd shop there if they'd build one closer.

I am a natural in the kitchen. Cooking talent runs in the family. It's like inheriting a green thumb of cooking so to speak. Tonight I cooked breakfast for dinner. We had french toast, sausage patties and scrambled eggs with sharp sharp cheddar cheese (added when the eggs were almost done so the cheese doesn't blend completely with the eggs) and onions. We usually eat more lightly, having baked salmon with lemon, chicken, broiled ground sirloin steaks or lean white pork chops and steamed vegetables, salads and meals like that. Sometimes you just have to eat something richer though. I make a delicious tuna casserole, spaghetti & roast. Yummy.

We can usually eat, the three of us, for under $10. I can feed us very well for $70 or under if I shop at Save A Lot and that includes breakfast, lunches, snacks and supper.

There is a wonderful satisfaction to hearing people, especially children going, "Mm, mm, mmmmm!" Later come the hugs.

PS: It's fun when Andy and I get a weekend off and we can cook brunch together.
