I love to cook and bake. For a wedding present I received a brand new food processor (I had a hand me down one before). Boy does that think work good -- I used it today for the first time! I made veggie burgers (from a Martha Stewart receipe). It was okay. I used red beets instead of golden beets and I felt like I was eating raw hamburger meat! LMAO Every once in a while I have a receipe go bad.

I work full time and I still make dinner every night. My husband will help if he makes it home in time. I really enjoy cooking.

My bf likes to eat out, so when I'm with him, that's what we generally do. I'm extremely picky, however, and have mild OCD, so I'm more comfortable preparing my own food. I just can't bear the thought of people touching my food with their filthy, filthy hands.

Hi Greendawn, I've been the principal cook for the a sizeable majority of my married life of nearly 10 years. Though my wife is now becoming more acclimated to the kitchen, we still find ourselves eating out, or ordering Chineese for delivery. Nothing beats not having to eat your own cooking, especially when the one doing the cooking is as well skilled as you.

Though I would prefer being able to have meals at home on account of financial common sense, I still find myself, especially around payday, odering out, or doing take out as opposed to suffering in the a sweltering kitchen.

    Things I have learned..

Plastic gloves mean nothing unless they change them right before waiting on you!

Sometimes people discard meat they decided not to buy on other counters..like the cereal aisle. Days can go by before they are noticed..then they just put them back in the meat section for sale! (And you get a case of the stomach flu) Watch for meat that has air separating the meat from the wrapper..it has usually been exposed to heat.

If you complain in a food service establishment..don't eat the food they later bring to you! They have their own way of getting even if you complain about something they did

The fresher milk is always in the back of the row..that's why they are so hard to get to without removing 5 others.

Ever notice how cans have codes on them for expiration dates instead of actual dates? It's hard to find them that actually have a date on them.

And when I do rarely eat out..I am very cautious .I usually go to a buffet where the servers are constantly on duty behind the food so nobody can contaminate the food. And they actually remove the old tray of food before putting a new tray out. Opposed to just dumping the new food in with the old and mixing it up.

    Snoozy..of the food patrol..

Cook @ home for me - I love cooking & trying new recipes. On a really good fabulous meal for about 11 people (with left overs) you looking at about R 400-500 -that is $67-$83 (per head $6-$8) (your dollar is 6 times strong than my rand - so it's cheap for you guys but you have to fly here first) ..... Anyway - I love cooking and making a lovely mess in the kitchen for everyone else to clean.

I hate cooking, & would eat out or takeaway every night if I could! Well, I like cooking probably about once a month, something nice, but I hate thinking about what to make for dinner every night, & then making it! I also like it when my husband cooks!

    Jeannibeanz says :

A pan of lasagne will cost upwards of $23.00 for the ingredients.

Really ? Where do you go grocery shopping ?

    Let's see :

a box of lasagne pasta, $1.50

2 Cans of tomato sauce, $2.00

    1 bag of cheese, $2.00

    Some ground beef, $3.00

Under $10.00 and that will feed at least 4 people....
