I'm not surprised, I believe it. Ironic though, that the watchtower would print this, being that they are so against seeing psychiatrists, counselors, etc...

"1 in 4 people worlwide" according to the Wattchtower Society homepage. I googled Jehovah's Witnesses and this popped up first.

Strange that in the fairly secure western world there is so much mental illness, people can't see any meaning in life or they feel alienated from society.

That's because there's BIG $$$ in "mental illness".
I just got back from a seriously poverty stricken part of Mexico... everyone had a smile on their face... IN THE SLUMS.
It seems that "mental illnesses" while real and debilitating ( I know I'm "bi-polar ll" and suffer severe depression) is a luxury of the wealthier nations. We're too damn stressed out... add being in a cult to it and voila... we're MENTALLY ILL. The problems really begin when you have these problems and the money runs out... then you're SOL!
They say these illnesses are so "treatable" (those selling the cure)... yet when I was an insurance agent... we REJECTED anyone with a history of "mental illness"... gee go figure.
The Dubs need a crutch... and mental illness is a HUGE barometer of the mental environment they live in. "Mere OPPRESSION will make the wise one act CRAZY"..NWT.

Chances are, most getting df'd are "mentally ill", I suppose. "Apostates" MUST be in this category.
