I work with a JW but not too closely. One of those hello, goodbye deals.

    Funny you should ask mini.....

Living in an area where I don't know any of the local JW's puts me at a disadvantage of "running" into any and actually knowing it.

However, (you knew this was coming) I work in a Department Store in Men's wear and while I had my back to this person because I was ringing up another customer on the opposite counter as my work mate who was ringing up a JW lady. Reason I knew she was a JW was because she made it a point to very loudly (I bet she counted her shopping time doing this) let my work mate and everyone within 50' know that she was buying her son clothes to wear to "the District Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses next week in Tacoma, WA at the Tacoma Dome." I guess she was personally inviting everyone who could hear her, yes I'm almost certain she was counting her time.

Me I was biting my tongue, I so wanted to say; "You belong to THAT CULT!"......

Oh what was priceless was the eyes rolling in unison by everyone who heard her! LOL

A couple of weeks ago when I was shopping at Home Depot I saw an old JW couple from my old congregation. They saw me but didn't put forth any effort to say hello. So I just ignored them. They didn't look very happy for people who are supposed to have "the truth."

About 3 years ago. I was at a Home Depot and they saw me in the parking lot. I was there with mom helping her pick out a ceiling fan, looking thru the flowers they had outside on display. They immediately recognised me, in spite of the full beard. They flagged me down, we hugged and didn't talk much about JW stuff as it was blatantly obvious that I was a long way from being in the truth.

The other time I saw one of the professional pioneer sisters who also realised I was a long way from home as far as the Kingdom Hall was concerned, too. My beard had not yet developed into the wonderful thicket that it is now. She quickly gave me her phone number in an attempt to get me some help from the brothers no doubt. She knew of some of my struggles and was very sympathetic to my situation. I called once but never called again, as she had just recently gotten married. I didn't want to be viewed as an intruder, or worse yet, an old flame.

I was not aware of JWD at the time, and was still squirming in my ignorance, regarding the truth about the truth.

When I first left the kingdom hall over 20 years ago I ran into them everywhere. Talk about reliving my worst nightmare.

Nowadays I honestly don't see them that much...I occasionally hear about my JW relatives from my mother and I'm sure they're somewhere out there as I go through my day. But I don't see them, let alone run into them.

Remember when they used to swarm over the territory door-knocking? I never see them around where I live. S2

Saw one waitressing in a coffee shop today!!! She didn't stop staring but what made me cranky was that she didn't clean our table from the previous customer.

I was having a meeting, so my colleagues must have wondered at my choice. I didn't recognise her at first, then it all clicked. Tragic!!

OMG - you live in a first world country and you dont have billy bear ham??? What kind of a backwater is it down there?

Asda is a big scuffers supermarket (it caters to lower socio - ecomonic people), and billy bear ham is a meat product favoured by children of such families (AND by my daughter - BTW did I mention how wonderful she is?) in three shades of pink and in the shape of a cartoon bears head.

NOW you wish you lived in England dont you??

All the time, on a daily basis even.

Guaranteed if I go walking through my town centre I'm going to see atleast one, they don't usually see me though.
