A few weeks ago. I was talking to a customer about her southern accent, the inaccurate history taught as fact about the Civil War in today's school text books, prejudice of the north against the south and vice versa and the reasons for it.
The lady pulled out one of those pamphlets about Who really is ruling this world and told me that she was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I told her my sister is one of JWs. She asked me if she had ever spoken to me about it. I told her yes. She asked if I agreed. I told her only with certain things like no hell and the trinity.
She asked if I was interested in studying. I told her no. I said I was upset because my sister and her family will not speak to another family member (me, but didn't tell her it was me) because that family member had decided to question the WT doctrine. I also told her that bothered me deeply. I also told her that I didn't think it was a good solution to the world's problems to kill billions of mostly nice people.
The sister then told me that there are good biblical reasons for that BUT, "Usually, we don't get into those negative issues early in the study. We teach the positive things first." Then she went on to give the speech about the milk for babies, steak for mature persons dealie. She wanted my name. I didn't tell her, but she gave me her address, phone number and the brochure, begging me to read it and write her with questions.
It left me feeling literally ill, the whole conversation.
