Asda is a big scuffers supermarket (it caters to lower socio - ecomonic people),

Phew! Glad you explained that - here, ASDA is the Australian Sports Drug Agency!

and billy bear ham is a meat product favoured by children of such families (AND by my daughter - BTW did I mention how wonderful she is?) in three shades of pink and in the shape of a cartoon bears head.

If slicing up a pink bear's head is considered fun in civilised realms, then I'm glad I live in a backwater!

But seriously, that sounds like something my kids would have loved when they were littler. My youngest still loves anything bear themed, even though he's 12. (can't find a teddy-bear icon)

I have a jw that lives in the same block of flats but he is not fanatical and talks to me quite often.

I think he is pissed off with the WTS because in his country he had to do time in prison, 4 years, for refusing the alternative army service, before the rules were changed by the GB so as to allow this.

Bikerchic, You are so right about how this JW spoke loudly about the convention while shopping to continue counting her time. Uggggg.

A few weeks ago. I was talking to a customer about her southern accent, the inaccurate history taught as fact about the Civil War in today's school text books, prejudice of the north against the south and vice versa and the reasons for it.

The lady pulled out one of those pamphlets about Who really is ruling this world and told me that she was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I told her my sister is one of JWs. She asked me if she had ever spoken to me about it. I told her yes. She asked if I agreed. I told her only with certain things like no hell and the trinity.

She asked if I was interested in studying. I told her no. I said I was upset because my sister and her family will not speak to another family member (me, but didn't tell her it was me) because that family member had decided to question the WT doctrine. I also told her that bothered me deeply. I also told her that I didn't think it was a good solution to the world's problems to kill billions of mostly nice people.

The sister then told me that there are good biblical reasons for that BUT, "Usually, we don't get into those negative issues early in the study. We teach the positive things first." Then she went on to give the speech about the milk for babies, steak for mature persons dealie. She wanted my name. I didn't tell her, but she gave me her address, phone number and the brochure, begging me to read it and write her with questions.

It left me feeling literally ill, the whole conversation.

I see them standing with the magazines sometimes at the lightrail station on my way to work, but I haven't got the nerve up yet to hand them one of my own tracts I printed out for anti-witnessing.

Also was having a nice conversation with a lady while I was getting my nails done and she dropped some comment about her friend's husband being a minister of JWs. I must have had a funny look on my face because the conversation abruptly halted at that point. I was laughing to myself.

Yep, just yesterday at the grocery store. Saw an old jw friend with her sister-in-law, in one of the aisles so I made sure they saw me and then I proceeded to make sure I was in the same area throughout the store (ya no, stalking the jw dub that pretends they never saw you).

Then we get to the produce section, so I made sure that we had to finally cross paths. Now the look on her face was priceless. She knew I was there but had that god awful look of fear in her face, like OMG, now what do I do? I hope I don't make eye contact. So now she's looking down at the ground and I say Hello "m..." and she muttered under her breath hello.

I had a great sense of satisfaction.

Like I told my husband, what are they afraid of, if they think they are so god awful right about their religion, don't ya think they would be the ones to hold their heads up high (although there are some like that) and pretend we don't bother them and make us afraid of the paths we took down the merry path of so-called apostasy.

we've got a lot of catching up to do...

That is great to hear u/d.

I moved away so I rarely ever run into anyone I know. I see dubs around all the time. We had some pass us on the freeway -- I happened to look over and see the convention badges (we were doing 80 and they passed us with no problem). LOL

Last December I went back to where I used to live and I ran into an elder and his wife that I was very close to at one time. They didn't even make eye contact or say a greeting. I am neither DFd or DAd -- guess they "marked" me.

Would you believe about 10 minutes ago? I had to get petrol for my work vehicle and while I was at the store just down the road I saw one of them as i was paying at the counter. He said, "Hi." and I said, "Hi XXXX , how are you doing?". He said, "Fine and you." That was all but I bet if his elder brothers knew he even acknowledged the existence of a bad WTBTS apostate like me he would be in front of a JW confession squad by day's end begging them not to throw him out of the cult. The poor guy is so trapped. He lives on a hill next to 2 other dub families. The only way to the houses is up the Kingdumb Hall driveway which is circular and is named Kingdom Lane.

Ooops, I hope I didn't blow his clandestine cover describing where he lives. Oh well, one of the other brothers on the 3 home, one KH lane talks with me also so that leaves the Gestapo in a dilemma cuz all of them up there are on the servant body. hehehe
