Did Noahs Ark drift about aimlessly in the Great Flood?

A ha ha, that reminded me of another JW folklore: Yes, DefD is right, it landed after the 40 days on mount Ararat. And the JW legend goes: The ark has not been found, but some people have seen a "glimpse" of it, up there in Ararat. But there are continous storms and bad weather in that area, so noone could ever get up there, to where it was placed (and that`s probably Jehovahs doing, to protect the ark). And to this day, noone has been able to get up in that area to the ark, due to the weather.

So the story goes. I remember imagining how it would be like, as a kid, to go on an expedition up there, fighting my way thru the snow storms (have no idea if it snows there, but that`s how I imagined it), in full mountain-climbing gear.

I also read somewhere that the ark was discovered on mars.

It was on top of mount ararat Not trying to argue elijah but if my memory serves me correctly, It came to REST on Ararat.

This is true, the Ark did come to rest on Mount Ararat. If you notice through the bible many names are derived from each other hence; Jehoiakim, Jehosphat, etc. etc. Ark is not a known name except for from what we read in the bible. Ark has the same first two letters as Ararat. I wonder what the K means. Also the waters were dried up by the winds that Jehovah caused to blow which made the waters eventually evaporate. And not all life expired except that which was upon dry land. Large fish like whales and such would not have died in water. 21 So all flesh that was moving upon the earth expired, among the flying creatures and among the domestic animals and among the wild beasts and among all the swarms that were swarming upon the earth, and all mankind. 22 Everything in which the breath of the force of life was active in its nostrils, namely, all that were on the dry ground, died. 1 After that God remembered Noah and every wild beast and every domestic animal that was with him in the ark, and God caused a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters began to subside. These names are not derived from each other. They are derived from similar Hebrew words (in this case, a theophoric element yhw "Yahweh").

I'm not sure you are actually being serious, but FYI the English word "ark" has nothing in common with the mountain name "Ararat" except a slight orthographic similarity in English. The word derives from Latin arcus "chest" and that's it. The mountain itself derives its name from the Urartu kingdom which existed in the Lake Van region in the first millennium BC (it is used in this sense in 2 Kings 19:37, Isaiah 37:38, Jeremiah 51:27). The reference to Ararat in Genesis 8:4 is also not to a mountain called Ararat but to mountains that are located in (the land of) Ararat.

I would have thought it would sink due to the weight of all the manure from the millions of animals on board.

    Hebrew for "ark" = tevah.

For some background to the story read http://www.ancienttexts.org/library/mesopotamian/gilgamesh/tab11.htm

There was no global flood. When the flood story is interpreted that way, it violates basic physical laws in every discipline it touches

There are many names that are similiar even translated to the English language. How did YHWH translate to Jehovah? Does Jesus have the same similar Hebrew Script as Jehovah? I think perhaps Yeshua and Yehovah might be more accurate. What do you think?

Did Latin come before the Hebrew language? How therefore can you derive the meaning from Latin? Ark of the covenant means what? Just curious.
