my poor daughter in law is having her double mastectomy today..she has been in for about an hour now and it will take several hours..then they have to do the reconstruction process.. they found pre-cancerous cells in one of her lymphnodes and she decided to have them both taken off.she is so afraid of getting breast cancer and doesn't want to go through all that chemo and radiation.. i hope they don't find anymore bad cells in her lymphnodes and she does good in surgery...i will be sitting on pins and needle all day worrying about her and my son who is waiting.... anyone been through this or have friends or relatives that have had it done?.

I had a JW friend whose mother and aunt both had had breast cancer. When my friend found out she had nodes already, she had one breast removed and then later decided to have the other removed as a preventative measure. She has been cancer free since and that was in 1986. Its a difficult decision but weighed against the odds...a much better decision vs fighting for your life.
She will be ok honey. Just be there to help her with housework and stuff so she doesnt overdo.

Do NOT under any circumstances relinquish the teaching of your children on ANY SUBJECT to your parents no matter HOW good intentioned they are!! DONT DO IT!! It might seem like the easy way out for you but those impressionable young people will not want to disappoint grandpa and will do what HE tells them to do because YOU arent saying no to it! My mother in law allowed her youngest daughter to go to meetings with her JW elder husband even after she herself DAd to "keep the peace" with her husband. What can it hurt? She said... Well now that daughter is BAPTIZED, sneaking off to meetings with the HUSBAND and refuses to go to any other church with her mother or do any holidays because she doesnt want to disappoint her Step father!
You CANNOT unring that bell my friend. Just tell him that teaching your children on ANYTHING religion or not is YOUR responsibility and that you would rather not start that precedent.

you can't help but feel bad for many long time jehovah's witnesses who believed that "the end" was "right around the corner".
these oldtimers recognize that everyrhing they preached about was wrong regarding the "generation".
they know that they are going to die.
When they changed that definition of the Generation in...I think it was like November of 94 or there abouts...and it now was "open ended" I began to cry in front of my kids that we had been lied to! We were going to DIE and all this time I had been telling my kids we were going to live forever and the end was imminent! Boy...I went ballistic. That article was indeed the straw for me.

i suspect a few witnesses were not "straight" but didn't act on their sexual preferences.. i knew one up and coming bethelite who was approached by the bethel heavies and talked to about his "effeminate mannerisms" and was pretty much told that he could become a more prominent menmber of the bethel family if he "became more masculine looking" and preferably found a bethel sister to marry.
he followed the counsel and was thereafter a regular designated bethel speaker at district conventions.
interestingly, all of his bethel buddies thought the whole scenario was a hoot, knowing that he was really an effeminate man suddenly now looking very hetero..

my mom told me about a sister in her hall that came in on crutches to the meeting sunday.
my mom asked her what happened and she said that thursday night when she was on her way out the door to the kh, that two demons attacked her.
they knocked her to the ground and one held her down while the other one jumped on her leg and broke it .

on saturday night my mother & i went for dinner, along with that we had a couple of glasses of wine.

she started talking about her ex husband & if she should get back together with him - i mentioned she must be careful as she wouldn't want a repeat of what she's been through.. she started saying "vok jou" which means f*ck you & that i have never been supportive of her and that - which is bs.
Im done too Lou...done trying to be the Fixemup Chappie all the time and laying down in front of the bus for abusive family members to run over me again and again because theyre "blood". It sucks what little joy I have these days...right out of me.

my jw wife told me today that the 2009 oklahoma district conventions will not be held in our state.
the tulsa area will have to go to fort smith, arkansas and the central oklahoma area will have to go to witchia, kansas!

They could mandate that everyone only wear poka dots to all meetings henceforth as long as they follow it with "this is Jehovahs loving provision" and they will do it.
These days its all about saving money for them. Or getting them out of legal binds. Or avoiding legal liability. Or...passing the buck.
Good news is even LESS people will go now because they wont be able to afford to.
