I also recall being enraged when reading Crisis that the GB felt that they had to totally control EVERY aspect of the rank and files' lives because "they cant be trusted". If they stopped the reporting of time, the sheep wouldnt go out there voluntarily and SELL SELL SELL for the publishing company and so they had to keep that nonbiblical system in place to control the masses.
That pissed me off no end. Care about the people? Hell no they dont care. No more than the Pharisees "cared"
i was working in corpus christi this past weekend, when my sister called out of the blue on sunday.
she, like the rest of my family, is a very zealous jw, and since i am recognized as an apostate, i haven't seen nor spoken to her in about four years.
i was completely shocked that she called.
That is a great letter. It is a firm and loving explanation with undeniable references to her own literature and bible. When I was leaving, before I physically did, I showed things to an elder that I had gotten off the CD rom. They were printed out from the CD and even though it was a WT CD he STILL said that apostates had changed what it said and he ripped them up in front of me in anger! I said T - you own every bound volume there is since 1970! Go upstairs and SEE for YOURSELF there is no denying the culpability the Society has! And he not only stormed away from me in anger, his wife and he began to change before my eyes like vampires in the darkness. And it was terrifying.
It was fear. It was having everything they had believed in and sacrificed their lives for...put into the light of truth and found to be false. And they railed against the messenger and ran screaming from its reality. No no no no! Its NOT TRUE! And they disowned me because I was "a spiritual endangerment" to them.
How a group can claim they have the "truth" and yet their "truth" cannot even stand up to the minutest bit of scrutiny and yet they continue to defend it...is beyond me now.
Though I understood it then.

i have been in a long distance relationship with a jw from massachusetts for last 3 1/2 years.
here is my post, i had a daughter that passed away in september from complications to a double lung transplant.
I am sooooo sorry you lost your daughter. :*( I wouldnt have any idea if I could live through the loss of any of my children.
As for the JWs using the obits for time...that was very common when I lived in Illinois. Particularly if it was really cold out and we were regular or auxilliary pioneering (having to put in a set amount of hours every month in the ministry) We would look up people in the obits in the white pages and call them. And if we didnt get an answer we would write a letter and use that dead ones tract as mentioned above. Not uncommon.
Later I regretted doing that. It was blatant ambulance chasing and we knew it was taking advantage of people who were emotionally very very down and vulnerable.
Im sorry they did that to you.
If you are not a JW and the JW is having a relationship with you...he is definitely in violation of the "bible principles" he is supposed to be living by.
i seem to recall reading some time back that the society once wrote how some in the congregation refer to the society as "mama" or "mother".
does anyone remember that?

Yes Ive heard this reference and as long as the throngs believe the society is their mother, then they will be the subservient child. You do NOT question mother. You ALWAYS listen to mother. You are always DUMBER than mother. You can never be bigger or more knowing or more powerful than mother. You will never be allowed to grow up and be an independent Christian and will ALWAYS be totally dependent on mother to do your thinking for you, to feed you what you need to know, and to be protected from all outside evils. Mother will scold and punish you when you step out of line and I dont care if you are 90...you will never graduate from her school.

asking because this is the time i'm looking at travelling to the states - but only in 2010. reason i'm leaving it till then is because i have a wedding in the united kingdom in august of that year, so it will be easier for me to pop over from there ... and cheaper.. so it's a definate that i'll be hooking up with some of you britons and followed by the americans.

I live in South Florida and its hot here pretty much until November. However, the upper part of the peninsula is cool to moderate come fall. The further south you go the hotter it gets :)

ok guys i thought i would update you on my sunday and how the study went.
i had to drive a few of the older sisters to the hall (one has a bum leg the other an injured hip and the other one has a hard time seeing), so i drove them to the hall and stayed for the meeting, here are some of my thoughts, first of the public talk.. i dont know how i made it thru the 30 minute talk without screaming bulls*it every other five seconds, the talk was about being no part of the world, and man it made me want to vomit.
first off, children are still discouraged from extra curricular activities, i dont know how they expect children to grow up and be able to function socially if they raise them to isolate themselves from their peers, dont they realize that they are raising social retards?
How about "keep your hands to yourself douchebag"
Isnt there a scripture that says specifically that a man should not be touching a woman who isnt his WIFE??
last night i made contact with a jw that was very special in my life at one time.
when my father died (i was still a child of 12) he and his wife where the only ones to take an interest in me and my younger brother.
they where exceptionally good to us.
There is hope....I wish there still was a registry for us to find each other out there. Like the one Randy used to have. I did find someone on that list who was ostracized and demonized to the point where when I became a JW he was urban legend in the hall. He turned out to be one of the sweetest people I ever met.

since i was about 10 i've been on thryoid medication.
it is the same medication i take every month.
i had my last blood tests done 6 months ago.
My doctor wont give me a prescription to go get a mammogram until I come into her office for an exam first. She THEN gives me a script to go get a life saving examination that I cant go get done for FREE because I make too much...supposedly. Then she sends me OUT for the blood testing, OUT for the mammogram and OUT for the colon exam to other places. At each place I have to pay another co-pay and my deductible. I pay probably $12000 a year for insurance...WHY???
