NDE' & OBE's

please accept my request in the spirit it is meant-no unkindness is implied here but i must limit the responses and information as this is a big course project due very soon!

those of you who experienced either (or both!

) phenomenon while you were still an active member of the borg only, please contact me asap, if you are comfortable relating your experience to me.

... am fascinated by accounts of them. I know someone (an ex-JW, in fact) who claims to have had a NDE, but decided it was a phenomenon caused by lack of oxygen in his brain. Usually, however, people who have had a NDE insist that their experience was not just a brain glitch.

As to OBEs, I seem firmly tied to my body, dammit. If I start astral traveling, I will tell you about it. Read Robert Monroe's books, I dare you (any of you). Whether you choose to take him seriously or not, the fact is that he started a business that successfully trains people to do this stuff - or so clients report. http://monroeinstitute.org

i am a jehovah?s witness that has had a lot of doubts the past 5 or 6 months.

I am an ex-JW Druid (one of the few ... ) not interested in converting you or subverting you, but willing to listen and to be as honest as I can be, in whatever I tell you. I was a Witness for over 30 years, left voluntarily in 2000, was a "what the ..." for a couple of years, but pro-actively explored other types of spirituality, and ended up in an offbeat but very pleasant and growth-oriented place, spiritually. Needless to say, my approach to "religion" is completely different now than it was a few years ago. Some of the same reasons for which you might hesitate to talk with me could also be good reasons to do so. cruithnelaluna @ yahoo.com

You are going through a difficult time, but you can make your life better. I think step one is to "get your bearings," and after you accomplish that, you can make an intelligent and right-for-you decision regarding which direction you want to go.

my brother is so frustrating! arrgh!

ok, well my brother is really the only one in my family that continues to freely associate with me.

he is two years younger than me (19) and has always looked up to me-for some reason.

he has been dating a girl name tess for the last couple months or so in the traditional dub fasion (barely any contact).

I don't recall the whole thing, but the article in question was very clear on the point that sterilization was (in the writer's view) about on a par with marrying outside the faith - definitely, unequivocally wrong. That's NOT what the earlier WTs that answered questions from readers, etc. had said.

A few years ago, having contributed my replacements to the human gene pool, I contemplated having a vasectomy. I reviewed all of the relevant literature carefully, and went ahead and did it. Not long after I had the surgery, a WT article came out that referred to those Christians who had "resorted to sterilization" - clearly indicating that although the Society would not forbid it, they were going to make you feel guilty for doing it. This was yet another example of "damned if you do and damned if you don't," of which I saw several examples in JWism over the years. Seems they just like for the publishers to feel damned - for facing the pressures of life and making conscisnetious decisions, which they are told they can and should do. This could be one of the reasons I decided to leave the org.

My talk today with my JW neighbor

i had a very good conversation with my jw friend today.

it arose out of my invitation to our yearly friendship service at church this sunday.

she was so nice, but said it might prove difficult, since jws made a specific commitment to jehovah, and the doctrine of our church was trinitarian and she would feel very uncomfortable.. then she asked me who i thought god was.

Although I have chosen a non-Christian path in the aftermath of my JW experience, if kindness and reasonableness like yours were more common, I would have much more positive feelings about Christianity and about religious, practicing Christians in general. I feel that anyone whose love is inclusive, and who wants to work side by side with others for a more just, free, healthy and happy world is in principle my brother or sister.

Thank you for posting this story. I too am interested in its outworking.

OMG They are doing commercials now!?

i just finished watching martha stewart and after it went off there was a set of commercials before the news came on and i swear i just saw a commercial from the christian congregation of jehovahs' witnesses!.

it was about raising your children with knowledge and love.

it showed a teen girl on the internet in a chat room with a person who had become her best friend and wanted to meet her in person and they said something like if it seems too good to be true it is..'love builds happy familys' was the slogan or something.. .

Mayeb some of us can align with concerned individuals who, for whatever reasons, have those late-night community access shows on cable TV, and put in our two cents' worth for a minute or two. We sure can't afford to shell out the $$$ for prime-time TV like the big religious orgs.

Just think, ex-Mormons have had to keep their barf bags handy while watching TV for years. Now it's the ex-JWs' turn. I hardly ever watch TV, which is a blessing for many reasons....

As for my favorite religious commercials, I've always liked the ones for Scientology. I even investigated the religion ... and said "no thanks" to it, based on the Enlightening and Protective Information Posted on the Internet!

paul and lisa allott sold their $250,000 bungalow in conisbrough, northern england after living there for just 15 months, fed up with the constant leg-pulling.

taxis and pizza delivery men would fail to turn up, thinking their order was just a prank, and they grew tired with groups of youths posing for photos by the nearby street sign with their buttocks bared.

There are parts of California I would not live in (assuming I had any control over my location. All in all, it's a beautiful state, though, and the fith largest economy in the world. (More $ floating around than most entire nations, just very unequally distributed, as elsewhere.)

hello all,it was hell

i had my surgery on the 15th.and life was hell.the doc found the rotater cuff had started to rot.yummy.he had to cut a large bone spur that had actually cut into the cuff causing the rip.then he found my clavical bone was being distroyed by arthritis, so the bone was partially cut away.i was in surgery 2 hrs.i am still recovering and on pain meds.lots of meds.i am just checking in .i hope you are all well and safe.kls

Welcome. You will likely find that participation here is beneficial. Forums like this are many things, largely what you make of what you find. Forums satisfy some people's needs for a brief time, others' needs for a longer period - and of course, the particular needs they meet can change, over time. I've been participating here for just a couple of months, but have been involved with the Beyond JWs forum for a couple of years.
