we are currently living in a country where at the cinema the national anthem is played before the start of the movie and it is law that you stand.
does anyone know what current jw thinking is on this?

Witness freak out at the mere sound of those first few musical notes, and run to use the bathrooms or whatever if they are at an event where it is played.
Do they not know of the countries in south America where NATIONAL FLAGS ARE FLOWN on the KINGDOM HALLS each year????
Or that the society was a member of the United Nations??

yes, i know what "counsel" means, but it clearly has an esoteric meaning.
in the academy award winning bunker video series, the noble brother brown admits he didn't handle it well when elder ben (who was a junior elder...uh, yes, that's right) gave him counsel about a talk he'd given.
not enough use of scriptures.
Counsel in WT world means being "told off" for not going according to Society guidelines, or simply having a bully elder impose his personal views on another.
There is NEVER any room for a "lesser" witness to reply to or kindly object to the "counsel".

While I haven't watched these clips,(nor would I understand them) it seems like the very storyline the Society used in the drama videos at the conventions this year! You know the one about the girl leaving home for her worldly boyfriend. The video where the parents made out like SHE hurt THEM by leaving, and not the other way around! (As they abandoned their family duty to her!)

One thing of note about the "good Samaritan" was that he was from an Apostate Nation, and yet he kindly helped out a Jew! (God's People at the time)
So, I wonder nowadays if an "apostate" was in dire trouble, would a Witness stop and help them out??

Yes, I knew they did a marking talk about me for "apostasy" and "independent researching"... within a week, dozens dropped me off social media.
THEN the rumour mill went wild and I heard that gossip of my "sin" was actually some of the most distorted stuff you could imagine! And witnesses say they don't lie?! Haha
I guess it makes them feel better if some elaborate concocted story is spread rather that the facts. That lets them off the emotional hook as they remember that I only ever did things to help them ...yet they can conveniently forget that and enjoy a slanderous story instead.

Yes, why is some of the old law used as a verbatim "principle" (command) by witnesses nowadays, yet other stuff is ignored?
For instance they take the scripture about "no tattoos" literally, yet the very next verse about not shaving off your beard is said to NOT apply now?
If god is supposed to "never change" , why do the rules change?
And anyway, were not the Jews abandoned by God for being unfaithful? So why should anything from that time be even a "principle"?
