Unprivileged
by Wake Me Up Before You Jo-Ho insomething just dawned on me today as i processed my assimilation into the real world (thanks to our new poster, @jester, giving me a major throwback to my first post).. when you're a jehovah's witness, you really are in some sort of la la land.
things which are perfectly normal are acts of eating from the table of the demons.
things which are horribly grotesque and extremely unjust are branded as "righteousness".

You Just Can't Make This S--t Up!
by FedUpJW ini know this is kind of trivial but i don’t want to partake in something that might have connections with something that jehovah disapproves of.
i checked the watchtower library and i didn’t find anything on gingerbread man cookies.. .
good lord...how incredibly stupid and helpless are jdubs getting?

In line with that classic article about piñatas , I guess we can now say "it doesn't matter what the origins were, but how it is viewed in the community nowadays."
So, by that reasoning, I am going to shun eating gingerbread men...because, well, redhead men in the community are simply scary! (gingers.....get it??)

The Elephant in the room: ExJw disunity
by Diogenesister infantastic new video by the lovely susan gaskin and friend andrea discusses the huge variety of exjw opinions and why our supposed disunity is in reality our strength.
the witnesses will claim we cannot agree and there are nothing but fights and a lack of harmony within our community whereas they are the most unified religion who believe the same things where ever you go.
however andrea points out that this is just an illusion, there is no unity amoung jws.

Interesting thoughts. Yes, the Society boasts about "UNITY" amongst all JWs.
They claim this is a good thing.
This reminds me of a talk I once gave at the Kingdom Hall as I was starting to awaken. I cant remember the topic or assigned theme, but midway through the material lent itself to what I thought was a appropriate visual aid.
I pulled out the blackboard and wrote the following words on it : UNITY or UNIFORMITY. Then discussed how a few changed letters can denote such a profound difference! UNITY is a lovely quality. But UNIFORMITY can become such an ugly term as it doesn't allow for individuality and variation from a prescribed formula. I spoke of how our unique qualities as individuals can make for a beautiful atmosphere amongst God's people. But if we all have to be exact clones of one another, it is not something to be proud of. It is something to be concerned about!
Oh, I was "counselled" firmly for this after the meeting!

“THE ‘GOVERNING BODY’ SHOW...!!” haha, I’ve used this expression twice now with Jdubs...
by Muddy Waters inhahaha, i’m so “brazen”, lol.
but we’ve had the jws be pretty active in our territory recently, and i got to say this to them on two separate occasions, to three different borgites, lol!
(it was a glorious moment for me, haha!).

Love it!
The first thing I thought of when you said that, was "The Muppet Show"! The theme song came rushing into my mind: "Its time to put on make up, its time to start the show....."I am sure someone can think of some more lines like that??

Work Colleague Went To a JW Funeral - His Experience
by pale.emperor inso the guy in my office on the desk next to me has just got back from the funeral of his wifes sister.
this was his first time in a kh and full on exposure to jwdom.. bit of background: the deceased jw was not a born in, she was a convert when she was in her teens.
she died last week at the age of 82. the poor old dear was still zealously knocking on doors while in ill health.

Jw funerals are most disrespectful of the actual deceased person!
It is simply a matter of "insert name where applicable", and proceed with the cult sales pitch to all in attendance.

Latest JW.org Statistics Are Confusing & Lack Context
by steve2 inearlier this week a new post on this forum announced that the 2017 worldwide annual service report was available on jw.org.
wow - that's earlier than the statistics for the 2016 service year which appeared in the 2017 yearbook last january!
good effort, jw organization!

It is "marketing and advertising 101"
Simply highlight the one or two points that look good, and hide the 100 other glaring faults!
Just like a used car salesman does: "This lovely classic car has a unique patina finish that highlights it's characterful active life" (= "it has a rusty finish")
Or "This is the best car! I can assure you of that!" = ("it is the only car we have for sale at the moment, hence it is the best")
The Society will do this selective highlighting from now on. AND the gullible brain-dead JWs will eat it up!
