i have noticed that most jehovahs witnesses and many who have left are very immature.
could you please give me your oppinion on that.
do they go as far as controlling your maturity ?
I second Mulan's statement: naive is the word I would use, especially as one was so called "raised in the "truth"...
Please do not put down those who lived a different life than you and call them: immature...
I always had good life skills despite the fact that I lead a sheltered life, although I realize that many do not.

i already know how some of you will answer.
i realize that some dear friends here have lost their spouse due to their jw "awakening", but for those of you where both of you are now out, do you feel you are a better husband or wife because of the experience?
even if your spouse is still in, do you feel you are a better husband/wife?

I must say, Mr. CB started leaving before me. I thought he was crazy and misunderstood why he was leaving. I equated being in the "truth" with being faithful. My first husband was a JW who was very unfaithful and left the truth before we got a divorce. You can understand my fear when Mr. CB started leaving.
Yes, that caused distress in the marriage...a lot...but when I saw the Dateline Special about child pedophiles....my doubts began...my rose colored glasses came off!!! In time I started doing my own research. I was actually sharing new things with Mr. CB....lol...can you imagine that...things I have read off this board...documented proof...that helped convince me even more.
I have to admit, being on the "same page" about the WTBS sure helped our relationship.

i went to school with a couple of jehovahs witnesses and they were ok people.some of you lot on here just need to get over it - i don't understand that if you were so bored with it -why did you get into it in the first place ?
give it up - you made a mistake - get over it - or get therapy or something.. i used to go into school assemblies etc.
and church occasionally and i was bored stiff so i presume its not something peculiar to jehovahs witnesses halls.i wouldn't go back now but whats the point in whinging about it like you lot?

Well stated Razorblade. That is the whole point of this site. I have appreciated this site as a "newbie"...many of the ones that are still here have posted and cited some good research information and served as "therapy" for what I have just started experiencing when one leaves a mind control group. That is very necessary for moving on to a "positive life" ....to know one is NOT alone in the way one feels and learning how others have coped with this experience.
I want to personally thank all the posters who have helped me along a healthy way of life!!!

i had thought that the watchtower had begun to take a more reasonable approach to the secular education of it's members children yet here they are again in 2004 willing to jeopardise the education these young people receive for the sake of indoctrination and control.. .

The WTBS is taking away the rights of the parents to decide how to raise their children.
Education is a must in order to get a decent job. I missed meetings while growing up if I had too much homework. While I raised my 2 sons...they weren't forced to a meeting if they had too much homework...

she is in her late 70's.
she adamantly refuses blood.
I would never force anyone against their medical wishes...whatever it might be....It is their life--their choice.

a few days ago, mom tells me she's visiting a new kh.
according to her account, all the pioneer sisters are asking about "me" (we don't remember the name, but your daughter that used to come to meetings.
) ps #1 says "we're missing you, tell her we say hi.
I find it very interesting that the person they are asking about, they never call to speak to that person. If they really miss you, why aren't they trying to visit you?
When my first husband started missing meetings I would have people ask me "how's your hubby doing"...it started to be really irritating so I finally said: "why don't you call him and find out?".

veronica was born to proud parents (yourschelbie and me) at 8:30 a.m. this past saturday morning, january 3rd.
she weighed in at almost 7 pounds (3.15 kg) , and is 18 inches (46 cm) long.
we're all doing fine.

the few years that i was an active witness, i can't say that i was very happy.
i really didn't mind missing a meeting.
i always felt that a meeting every 2 days for the rest of my life was a little exaggerated.
Yes I was happy because I thought I had the "truth"....However I became very disturbed viewing the Dateline Special on child pedophiles, ashamed to go in service because I found out we were no better than any other religion. Then I was not happy being a witness, the hypocrisy hurt my conscience.
