I still don't get why that would "bring you back???"
I guess my year of fading has woken up my mental reasoning...............I don't get why they would think that!!!

my mother told me yesterday that the latest talk that's buzzing around is that after the wedding of my daughter (who is marrying an "unbeliever" aka normal person), my wife and i will come back.
my mom's friend said that the presiding overseer even told her that there's one thing he just can't understand----why i left.
he assumes that i feel badly that my daughter's getting married to a "worldly" aka normal person.
I still don't get why that would "bring you back???"

just something i was thinking about and wanted to get a few opinions on.
NO!!!
The reason you are attracted to someone is because of the qualities they have. If, later on, you become aware of some quality that you weren't aware of in the initial dating stage, you need to make a decision whether you can "handle" that trait or not. IF you can't...you need to find a person more compatible.
For that reason, I wouldn't change myself to please another person!!!

well, i guess i can say that on my asian trip i knowingly consumed three new animals i had not eaten before (my apologies to vegetarians on the board who might cringe at the way that was worded).
first off, pigeon.
on my birthday in beijing we ate at a very pricey, fancy restaurant at the hotel and we thought we'd try to pigeon to see what it was like.
Thanks again for sharing pictures of your travels.......very interesting and great photography!!!
Are you going to write a book about your travels???

what i mean is according to the society, there are a number of persons that are "technically" "inactive" yet are viewed as jws still.
i'm sure that i'm viewed as a witness still because i am not df'd or disassociated.....what about you??
?
Me and NOdenial are considered "inactive"...(not da'd or df'd)....

i'm back on my folders and get serious again and got to thinking about my langage skills (or not) and also about my english cause i have friends i want to informe about it (in english).
i'm speaking english since i don't even really know when (as we were talking english sometimes in belgium - and also got english programmes on tv there).
Hey lady!!!
I just wanted to say how I admire you!!!
I don't even speak 2 languages...oh yeah...I took a year of Spanish and French in High School. (so I understand a "little" bit) The fact that you are able to speak and write English at all amazes me!!! I have heard that the English language is very difficult to learn.
I wish the American school systems would incorporate a 2nd language EARLY, in grade school. Sure is easier to learn a 2nd language when you are "young"...
So pat yourself on the back....and have a great day!!!

i have been inactive for the past 5 years or so.
i just could not bring myself to sit through meeting after meeting of the same thing any longer.. however, my wife and children are still regular and as such are preparing to go to the district convention next month.. for the past 4 years i have been able to avoid going to it with commitments to work, etc.
unfortunately this year it is not the case and my wife has made it very clear that she expects me to go with her.. how do i express to her that i don't want to spend 3 days of my life in uncomfortable clothing, sitting in a hot arena, listening to information that makes me want to stab pencils into my ears?
You could tell her that you have developed a "phobia" of being in large crowds....that your level of anxiety is too intense, and you can't handle it.
Tell her you have prayed to "Jehovah" about the anxiety problem and reassure her that you will be with her in "thought" during the convention.
(I actually had a brother in law that doesn't attend any assemblies or conventions because of his anxiety problem.)
...or tell her the real truth...but constantly reassure her that you will always "love her"...Many times when a spouse hears that one is "quitting the truth(tm) it makes them feel that soon they will be quitting their marriage. PM me if you want to hear my personal experience with that.

do you think we're "damaged goods" now?
Everbody has "baggage"....regardless if they were in a high control group or not. I think experiencing a "high control group" adds "extra baggage".
How you decide to carry your baggage makes a "huge" difference in your life. Learning how to get rid of baggage is another issue.
I found a book that you may enjoy reading:
"Repacking your Bags---How to Live with a New Sense of Purpose" by Richard J. Leider & David A. Shapiro.

now that i'm really free with truth.
i was wondering how the wt explains this scripture, since their members are in bondage.
i was told by the lady that studied with me that jw are free from superstitions, etc.
This famous quote is well stated:
"Religion is the opium of the people".
