And so it begins
by Yerusalyim in.
tom green, the convicted polygamist in utah, is requesting (through his lawyers of course) that the supreme court overturn his convictions based both on the supreme court ruling on the texas sodomy law and the massachucetts supreme court ruling on gay marriage.. so begins the trip down the slippery slope.

Abraham.... why such a GOOD guy?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by outbutnotdown ini used to be a jw, (from birth until about 12 years ago... now 34).
the one thing i could never figure out was why abraham was considered to be a chosen person, not only by christians but muslims also.
for arguments sake, we have to take the same stance that other religious people do, that the bible is factual and literal.... (although my opinion on that is different).

They have nothing to loose by shunning
by garybuss inif my attitude toward the shunners is to be waiting for them with a full pardon, waiting for them to quit shunning me so i can shower them with love as their reward for being jerks, they have nothing to lose by continuing the shunning.
they don't have a dog in the fight.
if children who shun parents were notified by the parents that they will loose their inheritance if they continue the shunning, all of a sudden they have something to loose by shunning.. .

He had three and a half years. What about YOU!
by Blueblades in.
for those of us who had a lifetime of trying to do it right under all kinds of very difficult tests of faith while imperfect, how do you think jesus would of done if he had to be tested for a lifetime of say 70 or 80 years and not just three and a half years.. what if you had only three and a half years to prove faithful knowing that in just three days after you died you would live again in heaven and would that have been easier than having to spend a lifetime trying to be faithful through all the years of 70 or 80 yrs.. just asking,it's something that i was thinking about today.. blueblades

"Unconditional Love" poem
by outbutnotdown inabout a year ago, i started from the freeminds.org site and ended up on some other site, where i found a beautiful poem entitled "unconditional love".
i have been looking for it a few times again, since then, and haven't been able to find it.
can anyone tell me if they have seen a poem that sounds like that to them?

weird JW Zone ideas on s11
by blackout ini thought this post from jw zone was pretty bizarre yet indicative, interesting jw take on sept 11.. .
ohttp://www.jwzone.org/forums/showthread.php?s=b803e894ac60f4544122765894e2a8cf&threadid=8037&perpage=25&pagenumber=1on sept 11 i had just got back from st work with my dad to meet the group at the kh when we had heard over the radio that the first tower was hit.
i had conducted the group and everyone's mind wasn't on the text frankly.

I need advice quick...and a hug.
by dmouse ini'm in a bit of a state at the moment, my wife has just left me about 30 mins ago and took the kids...i don't know where.... ok, some of you long-timers may remember the problems i had with my son ben, who decided that the jw religion wasn't for him about a year ago.
i supported him as best i could through that and he's developed into a fine young man with a more healthy spiritual attitude, investigationg a number of christian churches in the area and finally settled on church of england, which he really likes now.. although no longer a christian myself i have no objection to them pursuing whatever religious path they choose (obviously within reason).
that has been the case with all of my children: ben, 15, charlotte, 14 and chloe, 12. i have never attempted to stop my wife taking them to the meetings although i have voiced to them privately my concerns about the religion.

Why There Will Never Be A Perfect World.
by Englishman ingeorge burns explained it so well in oh god!
part 2.. "you can't have a top without a bottom".. "you can't have sweet without sour".. "you can't have up without down".. "you get rid of sad and happy goes right out the door too".. so now we know why god doesn't want to make life perfect.
it's not natural!.
