I have another friend who used to take it because she has narcolepsy. We used to exchange "happy pill" stories all the time. Her roomate would have to chase her around the apartment and make her go back to bed. She would call people on the phone, send crazy emails, make comfy nests in the bathtub and sleep there, all kinds of stuff. But "official" drug company info does not mention this as a common side-effect. Thanks for your comments, good to know I'm not crazy!

Please be careful with Ambien- it IS addictive. It is not meant to be used for more than 7-10 days. A few years ago, I was being treated for what I thought was a persistent sleep disorder. It turns out it was really depression, and being on Ambien for so long (over a month) just made it worse. Ambien can actually worsen depression if taken too long, it becomes habit forming. It is a good drug if used properly, but some doctors aren't careful with prescribing it.
It also caused me to hallucinate, and say and do things that I didn't remember the next day. I guess this isn't a common side effect, but it does happen. Please be careful, I hope you get your sleep problem under control.

Just remember one thing- leaving the WT does not mean you are leaving Jehovah! Don't let them emotionally blackmail you with that. They are a bunch of men, they do not have the truth. Hang in there, you will learn a lot here.

i just finished watching martha stewart and after it went off there was a set of commercials before the news came on and i swear i just saw a commercial from the christian congregation of jehovahs' witnesses!.
it was about raising your children with knowledge and love.
it showed a teen girl on the internet in a chat room with a person who had become her best friend and wanted to meet her in person and they said something like if it seems too good to be true it is..'love builds happy familys' was the slogan or something.. .
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... Love your children. What a joke! How about some advice on how to protect them from pedophiles

i had a very good conversation with my jw friend today.
it arose out of my invitation to our yearly friendship service at church this sunday.
she was so nice, but said it might prove difficult, since jws made a specific commitment to jehovah, and the doctrine of our church was trinitarian and she would feel very uncomfortable.. then she asked me who i thought god was.

Thank you to everyone for your answers. Pretty much as I suspected- it's easier to swallow the WT BS when it's being fed to you by someone you know and trust (family or good friends). Not to insult anyone who was taken in at the door, it just seems like those are the minority. You all have given me so much insight, thank you for being so helpful.

I've bought stuff to make jewelry, baby clothes, bound volumes of WT (couldn't believe how much of that crap is for sale!), out of print books, and my hubby has bought a few things for the computer. I bought costumes for a costume party we just went to, and then I turned around and sold them back the next day! Ebay rocks!
