Your Bible God is unabashedly murderous.
Would it have been any different if there was no God?
Would there be no wars?
No murders?
No violence.?
Would mankind now be living in peace and harmony?

someone correct me if i'm not entirely clear on any possible "new light" on this issue, but i got to wondering about something that the watchtower teaches that seems downright frightening.
okay, so the "anointed" are supposed to be whisked right up to heaven after death, "in the twinkling of an eye" as the scripture goes, to an immortal life serving as princes with jesus and co-ruling with him for the millennial reign.
am i correct so far?
Jesus’ corulers, on the other hand, receive the gift of immortality, which is proof of Jehovah’s unshakable confidence in their faithfulness.
I was just thinking.
According to the WT the "anointed" are chosen for their faithfulness etc on the earth now and are rewarded with heavenly life.
But I thought who is the most faithful?
The "Anointed" one who lives for maybe 90 yrs on earth. Who according to the latest, has no more "holy spirit" than anyone else in the WT.
Or the member of the "other sheep" who lives through this system on earth, then goes through Armageddon, and its horrors.
Then spends the next 1,000 years under Christs rule, bringing the earth back to Paradise, then to be "tested" by Satan at the end of that before being declared righteous.
It seems to me that a person who spends less than a tenth of that time on earth gets a better reward than one who goes through a 1,000+ years on earth.
so are you happier outside the jw's than inside?.
do you like having freedom, or are circumstances too overwhelming to appreciate it now?
is happiness in small things possible, even when we're still in the process of "getting it all together"?
Looking for happiness , makes you unhappy.
What makes us think we can "find" happiness, as if it is kept in a cupboard somewhere.
if jws really cared about making disciples they would never use outdated ways to get their "lifesaving message" across.
knocking on doors, knowing that most people aren't at home, is simply a waste of time.
driving around from one part of town to the other side in order to stretch your time, while doing return visits is simply a way to not reach people as quickly as possible.
So much on here that I have often thought of myself.
The JW's were round my street two weeks ago a Sunday afternoon. I watched them working their way down the side opposite were I lived. Out of 25 houses they got 3 answers. It must have been getting on for 4 months since they were last round. What gets me is that those two JW's will go away thinking how wonderful they have been doing this "life-saving" work. Excuse me! You spoke to 3 people for about a minute each, in an hour, out of a potential 25. Plus you probably won't be round for another four months.
Thank God, the Fire Service or Ambulance service don't have the same attitude. "Your house on fire, we'll be round in four months." or "Having a heart attack. Well you'll have to wait until we are working in your road."
Haven't they had this question before?
It seems very familiar.
wikipedia artice.
i was reading a little bit about lilith and i noticed the list about 1/4 down the page showing what various modern translations render the hebrew lilit in isaiah 34:14. i found it interesting that while most translations render it in an accurate form (night monster, vampire, night hag, lilith, or night creature), the nwt breaks with this and renders it "nightjar," which is a common nocturnal bird.
do you think the society rendered this verse so that it would make isaiah seem less of a myth (talking about vampires and demons of the night doesn't really help the bible stay on the credibility wagon)?
The Blueletterbible.com give this definition for the Hebrew word
1) "Lilith", name of a female goddess known as a night demon who haunts the desolate places of Edom
a) might be a nocturnal animal that inhabits desolate places
okay, so it should be very soon when the theme for the 2008 convention will be made public.
what do you think the them will be?
"ANOTHER YEAR, ANOTHER PROPHECY."
"WHAT STILL HERE?"
"ANYONE GOT ANY IDEA WHEN?"
Suggested theme scripture for the 2008 conventions:
Acts 19:32:
"The assembly was in confusion: Some were shouting one thing, some another. Most of the people did not even know why they were there."
the 2007 annual report should be in either the jan 15 or feb 15 2008 wt.
the wts has a nasty habit of eliminating the words "pioneers" and "publishers" in the annual reports.
an example of this can be found in these dumbed down reports.
The report you see on the Watchtowers website is just a shortened version.
The full report published in the Watchtower and Yearbook, usually shows "peak publishers", "average publishers", "average Auxillary pioneers" and average pioneers."
Considering that from January 2008 there will be two versions of the Watchtower, one for the Public which will be 1st of the month issue, and one just for JW's which will be the 15th of the month issue, as I understand it.
Will they publish the world report in the Public issue or not? I would be surprised if they do.
i seem to recall a question from readers "what did jesus mean when he said his "faithful slave" would be "discreet?".
can anyone tell me the date of the wt it was in or direct me to where it is on forum.. .
thanks .

is being carried out by two old women standing on the street corner looking like they are either waiting for a bus or lost.. .
i was at work today and drove past a couple of 'sister's' doing street work.
to my trained eye, i could tell that they were indeed witnesses.
The standing on street corners holding the mags, never happened in Britain. If it did I never heard it mentioned. We were encouraged to do "street witnessing" that is speak to people as you walked along the street while on door-to-door work.
The standing on street corners for this "important work" and getting nowhere, just another way to say you have done your servcie.
I've watched JW's work my road and wondered why do they bother. I watch two sisters work their way along, chatting, half heartedly knocking on doors. Maybe out of 50 houses get 3-4 answers, and then spend about 10 seconds making the offer. Then at the end they stand on corner make their notes, then go. Probably feeling good because they have done their hour in doing this "important preaching work" and not be seen down that road for another 6 months.
