I have had more blessings than I could ever count since I became free from the bondage of the organization of JW's. The biggest blessing of all of course having been disfellowshipped. It makes me want to dance for joy everytime I think about it.

I too am a step-parent in this my second marriage. My situation is different than most as my step-daughters bio mother, doesn't have anything to do with her. I've been with my husband 2 years now, and my step calls me Mommie, almost from the very beginning when he and I first started dating. I wasn't comfortable with it at first and neither were my two daughters, but once I saw that the relationship was going to work out and once my two settled into everything, they've all accepted each other like they've been together as sisters, their whole lives...
Together, my husband and I are raising three daughters, so I defintely take my hat off to you. I never really thought that I wanted to take on someone elses kids. But all in all, it's worked out fine for us. I think the best thought I can offer to you, especially with the oldest one is not to try to be "the mom." Just let them all know, by your actions, that you are there as their dads wife and in that, as they see your love and devotion to each other, they'll be able to develop trust for you. God be with you all

FOOD in DUE SEASON - The JWD Holiday Cookbook
by Lady Lee inwell i have been thinking about this and was wondering if anyone was interested in contributing some holiday recipes for a special edition of food in due season - the jwd holiday cookbook.
some of us have been out for a while and have begun to establish special holiday traditions.
for some this whole idea of celebrating holidays is rather new.

I tried to look rather quickly at the thread to this one, and didn't see this idea. I thought it up about 7 years ago and have enjoyed spreading it throughout Christendom. This one breaks SEVERAL rules of the JW org... Being busy anymore I order a birthday cake for Jesus from Wal-Mart. Any bakery will do. And then, on Christmas day, we sing Happy Birthday to Jesus and have Birthday cake! It really makes for an extra festive mood and keeps the focus on who the holiday is really for.
